Yaya Dub is a fictional character in the Kalyeserye portion of the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of Eat Bulaga! played by Maine Mendoza. [2] Yaya Dub who first appeared in the Problem Solving portion of "Juan for All, All for Juan" on July 4, 2015 is the personal assistant or nanny to Lola Nidora (played by Wally Bayola) and the love interest of the fictionalized version of Alden Richards. [3] In the July 16, 2015 episode of Kalyeserye, the love team of Yaya Dub and Alden has been dubbed as AlDub. Yaya Dub as well as other characters of Kalyeserye were created by Jenny Ferre, the creative head of Eat Bulaga! [1] Although the term "Kalyeserye" was coined by Joey de Leon. [4]
Yaya Dub's full name is Divina Ursula Bokbokova Smash. [5] Her name is a playful acronym for Dubsmash. She first appeared in the Problem Solving portion of "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of Eat Bulaga! on July 4, 2015 as the snooty personal assistant of Lola Nidora. She initially did not speak and communicated through lip synching songs, popular lines in films or viral videos.
On July 16, 2015, the first episode of Kalyeserye, Yaya Dub and Alden first met through split-screen and the AlDub love team was born. In the same episode, it was first time that Yaya Dub smiled after seeing Alden on the screen.
In the sketch comedy television show Bubble Gang , Yaya Bad, a parody of Yaya Dub, was portrayed by Denise Barbacena. [6] During the peak of the popularity of Yaya Dub in late 2015, the iconic red polka dotted apron of Yaya Dub has been donned in cosplay events and Halloween costume parties. A deviation from a beauty-queen wave gesture, it was exchanged between Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza after its initiation by the latter's character, Yaya Dub. Now popular among Filipinos, it also caught the attention of the world through several media platforms. The gesture is similar to an earlier British gesture – the royal wave, used to mock the waving of the royal family.

Trip Ubusan: The Lolas vs. Zombies is a 2017 Filipino zombie comedy film directed by Mark A. Reyes, starring Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros. It is a spin-off film of the Kalyeserye segment of Eat Bulaga!, a Philippine variety show. The film's name is a play on the title of the 2016 South Korean film Train to Busan and the 2009 tower defense game Plants vs. Zombies. It is under the production of M-Zet Productions, to be part of APT Entertainment, and was released in Philippine cinemas on November 22, 2017. The movie was distributed by GMA Network.
"Tamang Panahon" is a benefit concert and a special episode of Eat Bulaga! that aired live on television in the Philippines and other countries on October 24, 2015, from the Philippine Arena. "Tamang Panahon" was part of the "Kalyeserye" portion of Eat Bulaga! and highlighted the no-restrictions meeting of the love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, known as AlDub. The event experienced high demand immediately after the concert's announcement, with ticket sales amounting to ₱14 million. All of the proceeds went to the construction of libraries that benefited schools in the Philippines and the Lumad.
