Radio Philippines Network, Inc. (RPN) is a Philippine television and radio company based in Quezon City. It is currently owned through majority share by Nine Media Corporation of the ALC Group of Companies; along with the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Far East Managers and Investors Inc., and other private sectors. The network's main offices and flagship transmitter is located at Panay Avenue, Brgy. South Triangle also in Quezon City. Founded by James Lindenberg, and prior to its privatization, it was the sister network of current government owned and controlled Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation; both networks were sequestered after the 1986 People Power Revolution, and formerly an attached agency of the now-PCO, which retained 20% of RPN's non-controlling shares following privatization.
PinoyBig Brother is a Philippine television reality competition show broadcast by ABS-CBN and Kapamilya Channel. The series is based of Netherlands version of Big Brother. Initially hosted by Willie Revillame, Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Rodriguez, the show premiered on August 21, 2005 on ABS-CBN. Since December 6, 2020, the show airs on Kapamilya Channel's Primetime Bida and Yes Weekend line ups. Currently, in the span of almost 20 years, the Philippine version has already aired 17 seasons.
PT Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) is an Indonesian free-to-air television broadcaster. It was launched on 24 August 1990 in Surabaya, East Java as Surabaya Central Televisi, broadcasting to the city and its surrounding area. At first, the programming was similar to that of RCTI, broadcasting foreign shows and some of RCTI news programs until they could produce their own. On 30 January 1993, SCTV obtained a national license and eventually moved its operations to Jakarta, changing its name to Surya Citra Televisi and marking the end of 3 year affiliation with RCTI. Originally aired on RPN from July 30, 1979 to February 17, 1989, and was replaced by Student Canteen, later moved to ABS-CBN from February 18, 1989 to January 27, 1995, replacing Afternoon Delight and was replaced by 'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila and GMA Network from January 28, 1995 to January 5, 2024, replacing SST: Salo-Salo Together and was replaced by Tahanang Pinakamasaya. It is the longest-running noontime variety program in the Philippines and ranks among television programs with the most episodes in history with over 13,500 episodes aired.

The first Philippines noontime variety television shows were influenced by the popularity of bodabil (vaudeville) in the first half of the 20th century. Since then, the format has evolved with the changing times, with elements of reality television also incorporated as well since the 2000s. Majority of the noontime variety shows that aired on television were produced independently by blocktimers that pay a certain amount of time to television networks to air their program. Some TV networks though have managed to solely produce these kind of programs, with moderate success in terms of ratings and advertising revenues.
