Yes Yes Vindictive is the debut studio album from Australian indie rock/pop-punk band, Operator Please. It was released on 10 November 2007, and on 17 March 2008 in the UK under Virgin/EMI. The album features the singles "Just a Song About Ping Pong", "Get What You Want", "Leave It Alone" and "Two for My Seconds". The album was recorded in the Grove Studios on the New South Wales Central Coast with UK producer Simon Barnicott. [10] It debuted and peaked at No. 28 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart.

At the ARIA Music Awards of 2008, the album was nominated for two awards; ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist – Album and ARIA Award for Best Pop Release. [11]

Promotion and touring

The album was released after the band had played some of the UK's biggest music festivals, including Leeds and Reading, which followed and Australian and New Zealand tours. Ashley McConnell said Operator Please were introduced to distortion pedals and synths during the making of the album. [12]

Singles

The lead single from the album was "Just a Song About Ping Pong", which was released in Australia on 28 July 2007. It debuted at number 15 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, before reaching its peak of 12. The song won the ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist – Single at the ARIA Music Awards of 2007.

"Get What You Want" was released on 27 October 2007 as the second single. The song peaked at number 27 in Australia.

"Leave It Alone" was released as the third single on 19 November 2007 in the UK and on 25 February 2008 in Australia. The song peaked at number 62 in Australia.

"Two for My Seconds", was released on 21 June 2008 as the fourth and final single. It debuted at No. 93 on the ARIA Singles Chart on 7 July based on downloads alone.

Pauline Curuenavuli, known professionally as Paulini, is a Fijian-Australian singer and songwriter. Born in Suva, Fiji, Paulini moved to Sydney, Australia with her family at the age of four. She rose to fame in 2003 as a contestant on the first season of Australian Idol and placed fourth in the competition. Her winning song, "All For Believing", is included on this album. After a backpacking trip in 2002, Higgins toured and wrote songs during 2003. The Secret Life of... is the debut studio album by Australian pop rock band the Veronicas, released on 17 October 2005 on Sire Records. A special limited edition DVD was released with the US version. This edition included two extra songs and videos, and was only available online. It reached number 2 in Australia and is certified 4x platinum. The album spent over a year in the ARIA Albums Chart, without leaving the top 40. The album also reached number 5 in New Zealand and number 3 in the Billboard Top Heatseekers. The Secret Life of... has sold around 50,000 copies in the USA. In early 2007, the album was released worldwide to countries in Asia and in the UK. Positive reception of singles has already been successful in parts of Europe and Asia.

Kate Miller-Heidke Australian singer

Kate Melina Miller-Heidke is an Australian singer-songwriter and actress. Although classically trained, she has generally followed a career in alternative pop music. She signed to Sony Australia, Epic in the US and RCA in the UK, but since 2014 has been an independent artist. Four of her solo studio albums have peaked in the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, Curiouser, Nightflight, O Vertigo! and Child in Reverse. Operator Please Australian pop band

Operator Please were an Australian pop band, originating in the Gold Coast, Queensland, in 2005. Their final line-up consisted of vocalist and guitarist Amandah Wilkinson, drummer Tim Commandeur, keyboardist Chris Holland, bassist Ashley McConnell and violinist Taylor Henderson. They are best known for their 2007 single "Just a Song About Ping Pong", which won an ARIA Music Award at the 2007 ceremony.

Amandah Wilkinson New Zealand-born musician

Amandah Wilkinson, is a New Zealand-Australian pop musician from the Gold Coast, Queensland. She was the founding mainstay lead singer and guitarist of Operator Please from 2005 to 2011, which released two studio albums before splitting. Wilkinson went solo as Bossy Love in 2011 and used the same name when forming a duo in 2013 with John Baillie Jnr, ex-lead vocalist and drummer of Scottish pop-rock group Dananananaykroyd (2006–2011). As from 2016 they are based in Glasgow and released their debut album, Me + U, in October 2019 via Double-A Side Records.

The 21st Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards were held on 28 October 2007 at the Acer Arena at the Sydney Olympic Park complex. Rove McManus was the host of the event. The nominees for all categories were announced on 19 September, while the winners of the Artisan Awards were announced on that same day.

Tame Impala Australian psychedelic music project

Tame Impala is the psychedelic music project of Australian multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker. In the recording studio, Parker writes, records, performs, and produces all of the project's music. As a touring act, Tame Impala consists of Parker, Dominic Simper, Jay Watson, Cam Avery, and Julien Barbagallo. The group has a close affiliation with fellow Australian psychedelic rock band Pond, sharing members and collaborators, including Nick Allbrook, formerly a live member of Tame Impala. Originally signed to Modular Recordings, Tame Impala is now signed to Interscope Records in the US and Fiction Records in the UK.

<i>Ping Pong</i> (manga) Manga and anime series

Ping Pong is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Taiyō Matsumoto about table tennis. It was serialized in Shogakukan's seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits from 1996 to 1997 and collected in five tankōbon volumes.
