Muhammad Zahid bin Mat Arip (born 22 June 1966) is a Malaysian politician who served as the Senator from June 2020 to June 2023 and Political Secretary to Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from 2018 to 2020. [1] He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions and was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He also served as Member of the Supreme Council of BERSATU from 2016 to 2020. [2]
He is the grandson of the former Deputy Prime Minister,Abdul Ghafar Baba. His uncle is Tamrin bin Abdul Ghafar who was once active in the United Malays National Organization and subsequently transferred to the Islamic Party.
He was a former United Malays National Organization member before joining United Indigenous Party. After joining United Indigenous Party,he was appointed as a Member of the party's Supreme Leadership Council.
In the general elections in 2018,he contested for the Pekan district,but lost to the incumbent,Najib Razak. [3]
Mahathir bin Mohamad is a Malaysian politician,author,and physician who served as the 4th and 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia. He held the office from July 1981 to October 2003 and later from May 2018 to March 2020 for a cumulative total of 24 years,making him the country's longest-serving prime minister,as well as the first and only person to be appointed Prime Minister twice. Before becoming premier,he served as Deputy Prime Minister and in other cabinet positions. He was a Member of Parliament for Langkawi from May 2018 to October 2022,Kubang Pasu from August 1974 to March 2004,and Kota Setar Selatan from April 1964 to May 1969. His political career has spanned more than 75 years,from joining protests opposing citizenship policies for non-Malays in the Malayan Union in the 1940s to forming the Gerakan Tanah Air coalition in 2022.
Tun Haji Abdul Razak bin Dato' Hussein was a Malaysian lawyer and politician who served as the 2nd Prime Minister of Malaysia from September 1970 until his death in January 1976. He also served as the first deputy prime minister of Malaysia from August 1957 to September 1970. He is referred to as the Father of Development.

Prior to that,he was also a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO),a component party of the ruling BN coalition. He retired from politics in February 2022 and left UMNO for BERSATU in September 2018. He had also served as the Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) which was already dissolved.

The National Alliance is a political coalition composed of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party,Malaysian Islamic Party and Malaysian People's Movement Party. This coalition was preceded by the Malaysian Party Alliance Association,also known as the Persatuan Perikatan Parti Malaysia (PPPM). It is the second largest political coalition in Dewan Rakyat with 74 seats after Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 82 seats.
The National Concord was a Malaysian political coalition that was formed between the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) against the then-ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition which had came into power after the 2018 Malaysian general election (GE14).
