The People's Justice Party,is a reformist political party in Malaysia formed on 3 August 2003 through a merger of the party's predecessor,the National Justice Party,with the socialist Malaysian People's Party. The party's predecessor was founded by Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during the height of the Reformasi movement on 4 April 1999 after the arrest of her husband,former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. At the 2022 Malaysian general election,the PH coalition which the PKR was part of was returned to power again,albeit without a majority,leading it to form a unity government with political rivals. The party is one of main partners of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling coalition in Malaysia.
Tun Samy Vellu s/o Sangalimuthu was a Malaysian politician who served as Minister of Works from June 1983 to June 1989 and again from May 1995 to March 2008,Minister of Energy,Telecommunications and Posts from June 1989 to May 1995,Minister of Works and Public Amenities from September 1979 to June 1983 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Sungai Siput from September 1974 to March 2008. He was a member and served as 7th President of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC),a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition,from October 1979 to December 2010. He is the longest-serving MIC president having held the position for 31 years and one of the longest-serving Cabinet ministers at 29 years. In December 2010,he announced his retirement from politics,paving the way for then MIC Deputy President Palanivel Govindasamy to succeed him as the new party president.
Mohamad Khir bin Toyo is the former Chief Minister of the state of Selangor in Malaysia from 2000 to 2008. His Barisan Nasional (BN) government was defeated in the 2008 general election,following which he served as the state's Opposition Leader until December 2010. He was a member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) from 1999 to 2013,for the seat of Sungai Panjang. Mohamed Azmin bin Ali is a Malaysian politician who has served as the State Leader of the Opposition of Selangor and Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Hulu Kelang since August 2023. Formerly a member of the Malaysian Parliament for Gombak from 2008 to 2022,Azmin served in the cabinets of Muhyiddin Yassin and Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Senior Minister of the Economic Cluster and Minister of International Trade and Industry from 2020 to 2022. A member of Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),which is a component party of Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He is also widely regarded as a key figure in the 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis,playing an important role in the fall of the PH federal government in February 2020.
Haji Khalid bin Abdul Samad is a Malaysian politician who has served as Chairman of Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (KADA) since December 2024. He had served as the Minister of Federal Territories in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from July 2018 to the collapse of the PH administration in February 2020 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Shah Alam from March 2008 to November 2022. Johari bin Abdul is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 11th Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat since December 2022. Previously,he served as the State Leader of the Opposition of Kedah beginning in October 2022 and was a Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Gurun from May 2018 until his resignation in December 2022. He was also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sungai Petani from March 2008 and held the role of Chairman of the Pakatan Harapan Backbenchers Club (PHBBC) from August 2018 to November 2022. Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 16th Menteri Besar of Selangor since June 2018,Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Tua since May 2018 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Gombak since November 2022. He served as Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administrations under former Menteri Besar Azmin Ali from September 2014 to his promotion to the Menteri Besarship in June 2018 as well as the MLA for Batu Caves from March 2008 to May 2018. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the PH and formerly PR coalitions. He has also served as the Vice-President of PKR since July 2022 and State Chairman of PH of Selangor since March 2020 as well as of Pahang from September 2022 to August 2024.
Dr. Afif bin Bahardin is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Taman Medan since August 2023. He served as Member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administrations under Chief Ministers Lim Guan Eng and Chow Kon Yeow from May 2013 to his resignation in March 2020 as well as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Seberang Jaya from May 2013 to March 2023.
The 14th Selangor state election was held on 9 May 2018 to elect the State Assemblymen of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly,the legislature of the Malaysian state of Selangor.
A by-election was held on 4 August 2018 for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Sungai Kandis. The seat became vacant after the death of the former assemblyman,Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei from lymphatic cancer on 2 July 2018. Mat Shuhaimi was a member of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat,a component party of the state ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition. He won his seat after defeating BN,PAS and PRM candidates with a majority of 12,480 votes. It is the first by-election since the historic May 2018 general election that saw the first-ever change of federal government since independence.

He also served as the Vice President of PKR from November 2018 to his resignation from the party in March 2021. He is the father of the Vice Women Chief of PKR Sangetha Jayakumar.
Mat Shuhaimi bin Shafiei was a Malaysian politician. Shafiei was a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling coalition. Shuhaimi worked for former Menteri Besar of Selangor;Mohamed Azmin Ali as a secretary. Shafiei represented Sri Muda seat in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly for two terms (2008-2018),and won reelection for Sungai Kandis seat instead in 2018 general election. He defeated three other candidates,but was unable to attend the swearing in ceremony due to ill health condition.
A by-election was held on 8 September 2018 for the Selangor State Legislative Assembly seat of Seri Setia. The seat became vacant after the sudden death of the incumbent assemblyman and Selangor state executive councillor,Shaharuddin Badaruddin on 2 August 2018 from colon cancer. Shaharuddin was a member of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat or People's Justice Party (PKR),a component party of the state ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. This was the third by-election for the Selangor State Assembly since the 2018 general election,after the Sungai Kandis and Balakong by-elections. Shaharuddin won the seat with a majority of 19,372 votes,defeating BN's Yusoff M Haniff,PAS's Mohd Ghazali Daud and independent S Vigneswaran. This by-election was held on the same day as the Balakong by-election. The nomination day was on 18 August 2018,with a 21-day campaigning period until election day.
The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support,leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority,the collapse of two successive coalition governments,and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.
Borhan bin Aman Shah is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Selangor State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari since September 2020 and Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tanjong Sepat since May 2018. Wan Dzahanurin bin Ahmad is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Sungai Kandis since August 2023. He is a member and Division Chief of Kota Raja of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU),a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions. He previously served as Member of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Division Deputy Chairman of PH of Kota Raja.
