Ziomara Esket Morrison Jara (born February 15, 1989) is a Chilean professional basketball player. In 2012, she became the first Chilean to play in the WNBA when she was a member of the San Antonio Stars. [1]

Career

In February 2012, Morrison signed with the San Antonio Stars. [2] She was released by the team in May 2013, after an injury to Becky Hammon forced the club to sign another player. [3]

In January 2018, Morrison signed with Skallagrímur of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna ahead of its game in the semi-finals of the Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup. [4] In the semi-finals, Skallagrímur lost to Njarðvík despite Morrison's 25 points and 15 rebounds. [5]

Created in 1995, it is organised by the Icelandic Basketball Federation – who run the Úrvalsdeild and the Icelandic Cup, and it traditionally opens the season.

The 2017–18 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 61st season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland. The season started on October 4, 2017 and concluded on April 30, 2018, with Haukar winning their fourth title after beating Valur 3–2 in the Úrvalsdeild finals. Helena Sverrisdóttir was named the Playoffs MVP after averaging 20.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 10.8 assists in the finals series.

Kristen Denise McCarthy is an American former professional basketball player. She won the Icelandic championship with Snæfell in 2015 when she was also named the Úrvalsdeild Foreign Player of the Year and the Úrvalsdeild Playoffs MVP.
