Joanne Rowling, better known by her pen name J. K. Rowling, is a British author, philanthropist, film producer, television producer, and screenwriter. Kannagi, sometimes spelled Kannaki, is a legendary Tamil woman who forms the central character of the Tamil epic Silapathikaram. Kannagi is described as the chaste woman who stays with her husband despite his unfaithfulness, their attempt to rebuild their marriage after her husband had lost everything but repented, how her husband is falsely framed then punished without the due checks and processes of justice. Kannagi proves and protests the injustice, then curses the king and city of Madurai leading to the death of the unjust Pandyan King of Madurai, who had wrongfully put her husband Kovalan to death. The society that had made her suffer, suffers in retribution as the city Madurai is burnt to the ground because of her curse. In the Chera (Kerala) and Tamil tradition, Kannagi has been deified as the symbol – sometimes as goddess – of chastity, with sculptures or reliefs in Hindu temples iconographically reminding the visitor of her breaking her anklet or tearing her bleeding breast and throwing it at the city.

Mandadi Prabhakar Reddy (1935–1997) was an Indian film character actor and doctor known for his works in Telugu cinema. He acted in over 472 films over three decades. He wrote stories for several acclaimed films, including Karthika Deepam. The "Dr. M Prabhakara Reddy Chalana Chitra Karmika Chitrapuri" in Manikonda, Hyderabad is named in honor of him.

Amara Deepam is a 1956 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by T. Prakash Rao. The film features Sivaji Ganesan, Padmini and Savitri in lead roles. The film, produced by Venus Pictures, had musical score by T. Chalapathi Rao and G. Ramanathan and was released on 29 June 1956. It is a remake of 1942 film Random Harvest which was later adapted in Bengali as Harano Sur (1957). Amara Deepam was remade in Hindi as Amardeep(1958).

Sufi Paranja Katha is the debut novel of Malayalam novelist K. P. Ramanunni. It was originally serialised in Kalakaumudi in 1989 and published as a book in 1993. The novel has been translated into eight languages, including English and French. Priyanandanan adapted the novel into a film of the same name in 2010. K. P. Ramanunni himself wrote the dialogue and script of the film.
Alladin and the Wonderful Lamp, also known by its Telugu-language title Allauddin Adhbhuta Deepam, its Tamil-language title Allavudeenum Arputha Vilakkum, and its Hindi-language title Alladdin Ka Chirag, is a 1957 Indian fantasy film produced by M. L. Pathy on Jai Sakthi Pictures banner and directed by T. R. Raghunath. The film stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Anjali Devi and music jointly composed by S. Rajeswara Rao & S. Hanumantha Rao. It is an adaptation of the story of Aladdin from One Thousand and One Nights and a trilingual, filmed simultaneously in three different languages. Allavudeenum Arputha Vilakkum was released on 29 March 1957, and Allavuddin Adbhuta Deepam followed on 13 April. Alladin Ka Chirag too, came in the same year.

Karpoora Deepam is a 1985 Indian Tamil film, directed by A. Jagannathan and produced by Mylai RV. Gurupatham. The film stars Sivakumar, Sujatha, Ambika and Goundamani in lead roles. The film had musical score by Gangai Amaran. The film was a remake of Telugu film Karthika Deepam.
Manapanthal is 1961 Indian Tamil-language romance film, directed by V. N. Reddy and produced by T. R. Ramanna. The film was written by Thuraiyur K. Moorthy, with music by Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy.
