Princess Caroline of Denmark, was the eldest surviving daughter of King Frederick VI of Denmark. She was unofficially known as "Kronprinsesse Caroline" prior to her marriage, and later as "Arveprinsesse Caroline". She married her father's first cousin, Hereditary Prince Ferdinand, who was heir presumptive to the throne from 1848 to 1863.

<i>A Meeting in the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters</i>

A Meeting in the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters is a monumental 1897 oil-on-canvas group portrait painting by Peder Severin Krøyer, depicting the membership of Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters during one of its meetings in the Prince's Mansion in Copenhagen. The painting was commissioned by the Carlsberg Foundation in conjunction with the construction of its new building on H. C. Andersens Boulevard. Measuring 519.4 cm (204.5 in) wide and 266.7 cm (105.0 in) tall, it is Krøyer's largest painting.

Georg Hjersing Høst was a Danish government official and writer whose career took hom both to Marocco and the Danish West Indies. His Georg Hjersing Høst’s Account of the Island of St. Thomas and Its Governors Recorded there on the Island from 1769 until 1776 has been translated into English.
