General elections were held in Puerto Rico in November 1900. Federico Degetau of the Republican Party was elected Resident Commissioner with 99.75% of the vote amid a boycott by the Federal Party. [1] [2] 35 seats were elected up for election in the House of Delegates, as well as elections for mayors, boards of councils, school commissioners and road supervisors. [2]
The elections were held as a result of the Foraker Act, [2] which created an Executive Council composed of six Americans and five Puerto Ricans to determine the electoral rules. [2]
