The 2024 Puerto Rican municipal election was held on November 5, 2024, to elect the mayors of the 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico, concurrently with the election of the Governor, the Resident Commissioner, the Senate, the House of Representatives, a Status referendum and a Presidential straw poll. The winners were elected to a four-year term from January 3, 2025, to January 3, 2029.

Ramos Ruiz became the interim mayor. [43] Later, on June 1, they found cause for arrest against Rodríguez Rodríguez. [44] There was supposed to be a preliminary hearing, but it kept being posponed, [45] [46] until August 15, 2023. [47] Later on November 3, it was determined that there was sufficient probable cause to go to trial. [48] Ramos Ruiz later won the PPD primary, [49] while Evelyn Vázquez Nieves won the PNP primary. Incumbent mayor Luis Irizarry Pabón was accused on November 1, 2023, of corruption, using his position for personal gains, [59] being suspended from his position the next day. [60] Nonetheless, Irizarry Pabón announced that he would run for reelection, [61] which the =PPD allowed with the caveat that he would step down from the race if the result of the preliminary hearing proved there was sufficient probable cause. [62] Nonetheless, when February 28, 2024 came, Irizarry Pabón did no step down, stating that he was innocent, and the PPD threatened to take him to court. [63] [64] Later, on April 28, Irizarry Pabón officially stepped down, after it was determined that there was sufficient probable cause to go to trial. [65] After this, the PPD chose interim mayor Marlese Sifre Rodríguez as their candidate during their convention, [66] while the PNP chose Pablo Colón Santiago during the primaries. [67]

Aníbal José "Jossie" Torres is a Puerto Rican politician and lawyer affiliated with the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). Torres has served in several positions of leadership within his party. He served as Secretary of the party during the 2000s, before being appointed as Puerto Rico Chief of Staff by elected Governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá in 2005. José A. "Josian" Santiago Rivera is a Puerto Rican politician. He became the mayor of the municipality of Comerío as a member of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) at the 2000 general elections, and was re-elected in 2004 and 2008. In 2010 Santiago became the president of the Asociación de Alcaldes de Puerto Rico, the organization that regulates cooperation between most mayors affiliated to the PPD.

Luis "Rolan" Maldonado Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican politician and the former mayor of Ciales. Maldonado is affiliated with the New Progressive Party (PNP) and served as mayor from 2005 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2020.
