The 1974 ABC Under-18 Championship was the third edition of the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC)'s junior championship. The games were held at Manila, Philippines from December 1–15, 1974.
The FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship refers to the under-18 championship for basketball in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone. The event used to be known as the Asian Basketball Confederation Juniors Championship. The top three finishers compete in the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup.

The Philippines successfully defended their championship by sweeping all of their assignments, blasting South Korea, 89-79, in the final day, en route to their third title. [1] [2]

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), established in 1938, is an athletic association of eight Metro Manila universities in the Philippines. The eight member schools are Adamson University (AdU), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of the East (UE), University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Varsity teams from these universities compete annually in the league's 28 events from 15 sports to vie for the overall championship title, namely, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, fencing, football, judo, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

Vincent "Chot" Reyes is a Filipino basketball head coach who is famously known as head coach of the Philippine national basketball team and led to a historic silver medal finish at the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship and the subsequent appearance at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, the country's first in 36 years. Chot Reyes is a five-time PBA Coach of the Year. He is currently the President of TV5 Network, Inc. and president of Media5, which served as the sales and marketing arm of TV5. The men's national under-19 basketball team of the Philippines represents the country in junior men's under-18 and under-19 FIBA tournaments. It is governed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. Michael Ray Jarin was the most recent coach of the team. Under-16 head coach Michael Oliver is inclined to handle the team in 2016, since he announced tryouts for aspirants for the upcoming SEABA Under-18 qualifiers and FIBA Asia Under-18 tournament last December 2015.
Dylan Martin Alcott, is an Australian wheelchair basketballer, wheelchair tennis player, radio host and motivational speaker. Alcott was a member of the Australia men's national wheelchair basketball team, known colloquially as the Australian "Rollers". At the age of 17 he became the youngest Australian "Rollers" wheelchair basketball gold medal winner for wheelchair basketball, and was the youngest to compete in the Wheelchair Basketball competition. In 2014, he returned to wheelchair tennis with the aiming of participating at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, he won gold medals in the Men's Quad Singles and Doubles. He was named the 2016 Australian Paralympian of the Year due to his outstanding achievements at Rio Paralympics. Alongside his sporting career, he hosted the weekend afternoon radio show on Australian radio station Triple J, and the ABC live music show The Set, as well as being a commentator for the 2019 Australian Open.
