Chris Evert defeated Olga Morozova in the final, 6–0, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1974 Wimbledon Championships. [1] It was her first Wimbledon singles title and her second major singles title overall.
Billie Jean King was the two-time defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Morozova.

Virginia Wade defeated Betty Stöve in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–1 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1977 Wimbledon Championships. As of 2022, she remains the most recent British female to win the title. She was the last Briton to win a Wimbledon singles title until Andy Murray won in 2013, and was the last British female to win any grand slam singles title until Emma Raducanu won the 2021 US Open.
Martina Navratilova defeated Chris Evert in the final, 2–6, 6–4, 7–5 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1978 Wimbledon Championships. It was her first major singles title, and the first of an eventual 18 major singles titles and a record nine Wimbledon singles titles.

Evonne Goolagong Cawley defeated Chris Evert Lloyd in the final, 6–1, 7–6(7–4) to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships. It was her seventh and last major singles title, and Goolagong Cawley became the first mother to win the Wimbledon singles title in the post World War I era. The second-set tiebreak was the first ever played in the ladies singles final at Wimbledon, and the match was the first ever singles final to end on a tiebreak. Goolagong Cawley was the first and only champion to defeat four top ten ranked players en route to victory.

Fred Stolle and Ann Jones were the defending champions, but Jones did not compete. Stolle partnered with Evonne Goolagong, but lost in the semifinals to Ilie Năstase and Rosie Casals.
Ilie Năstase and Rosie Casals were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals to Raúl Ramírez and Janet Newberry. Rain delays to the tournament necessitated matches from the fourth round, quarterfinals, semifinals and the final itself being completed on the last two days of the tournament. Davidson and King played three matches on the final day of the tournament to earn their victory, giving King the triple crown. No other player has won the triple crown at Wimbledon in the open era.
Rosie Casals and Billie Jean King were the defending champions, but lost in the quarterfinals to Helen Gourlay and Karen Krantzcke.
