St Finbarr's College were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Thurles CBS in the Harty Cup first round. [1] [2]

The final was played on 20 April 1975 at Semple Stadium in Thurles, between St Kieran's College and Coláiste Iognáid Rís, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. [3] St Kieran's College won the match by 6–09 to 2–03 to claim a seventh Croke Cup title overall and a first title in four years. [4] [5]

The Dr. Harty Cup is an annual inter-schools hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It has been contested every year, except on three occasions, since 1918.
