The 1981 Summer Deaflympics (German : 1981 Sommer Deaflympics), officially known as the 14th Summer Deaflympics (German : 14. Sommer Deaflympics), is an international multi-sport event that was celebrated from July 23 to August 1, 1981, in Cologne, Germany. [1]
The 14th Summer Deaflympics Games were originally scheduled to be held from 20 to 31 August 1980 in Moscow, but was decided to host it in 1981 due to the schedule of 1980 Summer Olympics.

The Deaflympics, also known as Deaflympiad are a periodic series of multi-sport events sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at which deaf athletes compete at an elite level. Unlike the athletes in other IOC-sanctioned events, athletes cannot be guided by sounds. The games have been organized by the Comité International des Sports des Sourds since the first event in 1924.
