The team plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, and internationally in the EuroLeague. It usually competes in the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, and used to compete in the now defunct FIBA Under-21 World Championship. This team was originally the Israeli Under-22 national team, until the FIBA Europe Under-22 Championship was changed into an Under-20 age tournament.
Ironi Kiryat Ata is an Israeli professional basketball club based in Kiryat Ata, a city in the Haifa District of Israel, which currently competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. The team was founded in 1980, and was promoted to the top division in 2022.
Doron Jamchi, also spelled Jamchy, is an Israeli former professional basketball player. At a height of 1.98 metres, he played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. He was the top scorer in the 1998-99 Israel Basketball League. Widely considered one of the best shooters in the history of European basketball, Jamchi is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Israeli Premier League, having scored 9,611 points in 466 games. He is also the most capped player of Israel's senior national team, with 191 caps, and the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Israeli national basketball team, with 3,515 points. He was named to the FIBA All-Time EuroStars Team in 2007.

The team represents the far-South region of the country - the Arabah area, and the Red Sea city of Eilat.

Maccabi Tel Aviv won their 46th Israeli League crown, beating Hapoel Jerusalem 96-66 in the final.

The contestants were Maccabi Tel Aviv, the 2005–2006 Israeli League champion, Hapoel Jerusalem, the 2005–2006 Israeli League runner-up and the 2006–2007 Israeli State Cup winner, Bnei Hasharon, the 2006–2007 Israeli State Cup runner-up and Hapoel Galil Elyon. Maccabi Tel Aviv won their 47th Israeli League crown, beating Hapoel Jerusalem 80-78 in the final.

The contestants were Maccabi Tel Aviv, the 2006–2007 Israeli League champion and the 2007–2008 Israeli State Cup runner-up, Hapoel Holon, Bnei Hasharon and Ironi Naharia. Hapoel Holon won their 1st Israeli League crown, beating Maccabi Tel Aviv 73-72 in the final.
The 2008–2009 Israeli Final Four, the fourth Israeli Final Four was held at Yad Eliyahu Arena, Tel Aviv, Israel on 19 and 21 May 2009 to determine the winner of the 2008–2009 Israeli League. The contestants were Maccabi Tel Aviv, the 2007–08 Israeli League runner-up, Hapoel Jerusalem, Maccabi Haifa, the 2008–09 Israeli State Cup runner-up and Gilboa/Galil. Maccabi Tel Aviv won their 48th Israeli League crown, beating Maccabi Haifa 85-72 in the final.
The 2009–2010 Israeli Final Four, the fifth Israeli Final Four was held at Yad Eliyahu Arena, Tel Aviv, Israel on 25 and 27 May 2010 to determine the winner of the 2009–2010 Israeli League. The contestants were Maccabi Tel Aviv, the 2008–2009 Israeli League champion and the 2009–2010 Israeli State Cup winner, Hapoel Jerusalem, Gilboa/Galil and Elitzur Maccabi Netanya. Gilboa/Galil won their 2nd Israeli League crown, beating Maccabi Tel Aviv 90–77 in the final.
The 1994 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship was the second edition of the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. The cities of Maribor, Postojna and Ljubljana, in Slovenia, hosted the tournament. Belarus won their first title.

EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Patrick Baumann was a Swiss basketball executive, player and coach. He was the President of the Global Association of International Sports Federations and Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). He was posthumously inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

Shalom Charly "Papi" Turgeman is an Israeli former basketball player. He played in the Israel Basketball Premier League and the Euroleague, and was Captain of the Israel national basketball team. In 1995 he was the Israel Premier League Assists Leader.
