Barbro Margareta Svensson, known by her stage name Lill-Babs, was a Swedish singer, actress and television host. From the early 1950s until her death in 2018, she was one of Sweden's best-known and popular singers. She represented Sweden in the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest in Cannes with the song "April, april". She was also well known for the song "Är du kär i mej ännu Klas-Göran?".

TV4 is a Swedish free-to-air television network owned by TV4 AB, a subsidiary of the TV4 Media AB. It started broadcasting by satellite in 1990 and, since 1992, on terrestrial television. In 1994, TV4 became the largest channel and remained so for a number of years. The two channels of Sveriges Television (SVT) lost more and more viewers for a couple of years. After making schedule changes in 2001, SVT1 had practically the same numbers of viewers as TV4. From 2004 to 2019, the TV4 Group was a fully active member of the European Broadcasting Union.

<i>Tre kronor</i> (TV series) Swedish TV series or program

Tre kronor was a Swedish soap opera that aired on TV4 during the period 1994–1999. The series took place in the fictional middle class suburb Mälarviken, located in the vicinity of Stockholm. The exteriors were filmed in Sätra, a suburb of Stockholm, and the interiors were filmed in a studio in Kvarnholmen as well as in Kungens Kurva. TV4 started Tre kronor in 1994 to compete for the viewers of SVT series Rederiet. Both shows aired in the same time slot and both had around 1-2 million viewers. The signature tune was written by Lasse Holm.

Mariette Hansson, sometimes credited as MaryJet or simply Mariette, is a Swedish singer and songwriter. Hansson participated in Sikta mot stjärnorna in 1999 imitating singer Amanda Marshall. She participated in Idol 2009 which was broadcast on TV4 and finished fourth. A year later, Hansson was announced as "homo of the year" at the QX Gaygala in Stockholm.

Bert is a Swedish television series with 12 episodes, based on the Bert Diaries by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson, and originally airing over SVT each Saturday evening during the period of 1 October-17 December 1994. It was directed by Tomas Alfredson and Svante Kettner. The theme song was performed by Lill-Babs, and called "Älskade ängel". Håll huvet kallt was the Sveriges Television's Christmas calendar in 1994. It is based on the book Eddie och Johanna by Viveca Lärn.

The Eddie series is a book series written by Viveca Lärn about Eddie, a boy in early primary school. The books were originally published between 1991 and 2001, and make up a spin-off series set in the Mimmi universe. The books are told from a third-person perspective and the main character, Eddie, is the brother of Mimmi's friend Anders. Eddie's father is an alcoholic when the stories begin.

Artister mot nazister was originally a term referring to a music gala inside the Stockholm Globe Arena in Sweden on 16 January 2001, against ideologies and opinions like nazism, racism, fascism and xenophobia. Following the gala several artists and groups created a foundation called Artister mot nazister. The gala aired over TV4 and live over SR P3.

Sikta mot stjärnorna is a Swedish singing talent show that was broadcast on TV4 between 1994 until 2002. The show featured people acting and imitating their favorite singers/bands performances. From the 1996 season and forward the show worked as the Swedish pre-selection for the European final called European Soundmix Show. Several of Sweden's most known singers performed on the show before launching their singing careers.

Maud Bernhagen is a Swedish sports journalist and television presenter who works for TV4. Along with Peppe Eng, she presented Fotbollsgalan 2002. After graduation, she worked at the newspaper Östersundsposten. She started to work at Jämtland's local TV4 station in 1994 and at TV4 Sporten's sports news show in 1995.

This is a list of Swedish television related events from 1996.

Cluedo – en mordgåta [sv] is a Swedish gameshow which lasted for two seasons in 1996. It is an adaption of the British gameshow Cluedo adapted from the board game of the same name. It aired on TV4 during the spring and autumn of 1996. The two seasons had six episodes each. The presenter was Martin Timell, who turned to the show after "Vad är det du säger?" and "Trodde du ja!" after he left SVT forTV4. Each episode was aired in two parts on the same night, from 8-8:30pm and 8:35-8:50pm with a five minute program in-between. There was sometimes a five minute program called Inför Cluedo.
