The 2008 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election was declared by the Election Commission of India on 14 October 2008. Elections for 230 seats took place on 27 November 2008, and counting started on 8 December. The Bharatiya Janata Party won a majority of seats and Shivraj Singh Chouhan was sworn in as the Chief Minister for the second time.
Elections in Madhya Pradesh, a state in India are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of India. The Assembly of Madhya Pradesh creates laws regarding the conduct of local body elections unilaterally while any changes by the state legislature to the conduct of state level elections need to be approved by the Parliament of India. In addition, the state legislature may be dismissed by the Parliament according to Article 356 of the Indian Constitution and President's rule may be imposed.
Sailana is one of the 230 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Madhya Pradesh state in central India. This constituency came into existence in 1951 as one of the 79 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the erstwhile Madhya Bharat state. It was abolished in 1956 but again came into existence in 1961. This constituency is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled tribes since its inception.

Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held on 28 November 2018 to elect members of the 230 constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. The election was a direct political battle between the BJP and the INC. One of the main centers of attraction was the contest between Congress heavy-weight Arun Yadav and the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. While the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had tried to win for consecutive 4th term, the INC fought for winning the state after 2003. The election led to a hung assembly, with the INC emerging as the single largest party and the BJP winning the popular vote. After the results, Congress and BSP formed the government with Kamal Nath becoming the chief minister.

Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held in February 1967. These were the elections to the legislative assembly having 296 seats in undivided Madhya Pradesh. Govind Narayan Singh was elected to the assembly as an Indian National Congress candidate but soon rebelled against the incumbent Chief Minister, Dwarka Prasad Mishra and resigned from the Congress party. He formed a new political party, known as the Lok Sewak Dal and became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh as the leader of a coalition, known as the Samyukta Vidhayak Dal.
Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held in February 1962. 1,336 candidates contested for the 288 constituencies in the Assembly. The Indian National Congress won the most seats and Dwarka Prasad Mishra was sworn in for his second term as the Chief Minister.
Deepak Joshi is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Bagli for one term (2003–2008). He then represented the Hatpipliya Assembly constituency for two terms as its MLA from 2008 to 2018. During his last term, he served as Minister of Technical Education and Skills Development, and of School Education for Madhya Pradesh.
