In the 1991 Indian general election for Madhya Pradesh polls were held for 40 seats in the state. The result was a major victory for the Indian National Congress (INC) which won 12 seats. [1] Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fared poorly in this election and managed to won only 8 seats. [2]

Digvijaya Singh is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha since 2014. Previously, he had served as the 14th and 15th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state, in two terms from 1993 to 1998 and from 1998 to 2003. Ramkrishna Kusmaria is an Indian politician from Madhya Pradesh. He was a five-time Member of Parliament and four-time MLA. He won as MP, four times from Damoh Constituency, and once from Khajuraho Constituency. He was a member of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Second time, in 1989, Mr. Yadav again defeated Patel from the same constituency.
