Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held in February 1962. 1,336 candidates contested for the 288 constituencies in the Assembly. [1] The Indian National Congress won the most seats and Dwarka Prasad Mishra was sworn in for his second term as the Chief Minister. [2]

After the passing of The Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1961, double-member constituencies were eliminated and Madhya Pradesh's Legislative Assembly was assigned 288 single-member constituencies. [3]

Hatpipliya is one of the 230 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Madhya Pradesh state in central India. It was created in 1976 and is one of the 5 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in Dewas District and one of the 8 constituencies within Dewas. This constituency covers Hatpipliya tehsil and parts of Dewas tehsil, both in Dewas district.

Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held in May 1980. The Indian National Congress won a majority of seats and Arjun Singh was sworn in as the new Chief Minister.
