2008 Formula BMW Americas season

The 2008 Formula BMW Americas season was the fifth season of Formula BMW Americas, formerly Formula BMW USA, an open wheel racing series for junior drivers, whose mission is to develop talented young drivers and introduce them to auto racing.

Contents

The championship was mainly raced in USA, the only exceptions are in June for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal and in November for the Brazilian Grand Prix, both as a Formula One support race. The series crowned champion Alexander Rossi. [1]

Sauber Motorsport AG is a Swiss motorsport engineering company. It was founded in 1970 by Peter Sauber, who progressed through hillclimbing and the World Sportscar Championship to reach Formula One in 1993. Sauber operated under their own name from 1993 until 2005 and from 2011 until 2018. They were known as BMW Sauber from 2006 to 2010 and as Alfa Romeo F1 Team from 2019 to 2023 in a partnership deal with BMW and Alfa Romeo respectively. Marko Asmer is an Estonian racing driver, who won the British Formula 3 Championship title in 2007. Asmer is also the first Estonian to test a Formula One car, having tested for the Williams BMW team in 2003, after just half a season of car racing in British Formula Ford. Asmer's father is a former racing driver Toivo Asmer, who was Estonian Minister of Regional Affairs between 1999 and 2003.

Formula BMW was a junior racing formula for single seater cars. It was positioned at the bottom of the motorsport career ladder alongside the longer established Formula Ford category. Like Formula Ford, it was intended to function as the young kart racing graduate's first experience of car racing.

Hitech Grand Prix is a British motor racing team. It was founded in 2002 by Dennis Rushen and David Hayle. The team started racing in the British Formula 3 Championship in 2003. The team also competed in the South American Formula Three Series, namely the Formula 3 Sudamericana. Currently the team competes in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, FIA Formula 3 Championship, GB3 Championship and the Formula Regional Middle East Championship.

The 2009 Formula BMW Europe season was the second season of Formula BMW Europe championship. The championship was contested over sixteen races at eight meetings: seven of which supported Formula One Grands Prix and a meeting at the Masters of Formula 3 event at Zandvoort. Felipe Nasr won the title at Monza, having finished fourteen of the sixteen races in the top two and won the title by 104 points. Two months after the season's finish, all results were confirmed after Mücke Motorsport's appeal over a breach of technical regulations was rejected by the FIA.

Luiz Felipe de Oliveira Nasr is a Brazilian racing driver. He is a 2 time IMSA Sportscar champion and won the 2019 12 Hours of Sebring. Nasr also won the 2024 24 Hours of Daytona with Porsche Penske.

The 2010 GP3 Series season was the first season of the GP3 Series, a feeder series for the GP2 Series. The championship was contested over sixteen races held at eight rounds, beginning on 8 May at Circuit de Catalunya and ending on 12 September at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Ten teams were announced, running three cars each.
