The Billboard Latin Music Awards recognize the most popular Latin music on the charts, featuring top solo performers and Latin groups in such categories as pop, rock, tropical, Mexican Regional music and Reggaeton.
New award categories in 2010 include Latin Artist of the Year and New Latin Artist of the Year. Leading the pack for most nominations this year was Tito El Bambino with a total of 18 nods followed by Wisin & Yandel with 14 nominations and Aventura with 12. Other Latin stars with multiple nods included Shakira, Paulina Rubio, Nelly Furtado, Luis Fonsi, and Banda el Recodo.
In 2010, nominees were announced on February 14 — followed by the 17th annual Billboard Latin Music Awards official broadcast, televised on Telemundo in on April 29, 2010 live from Coliseo de Puerto Rico, José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico — marking the first time ever that the awards show has taken place outside the continental US and its traditional home in Miami. The 18th Lo Nuestro Awards was held on February 23, 2006 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. The nominees were announced on December 12, 2005, during a press conference televised live on the Univision Network morning show ¡Despierta América!. The show was co-hosted by René Strickler and Patricia Manterola.

Juan Luis Morera Luna, best known as his stage name Wisin, is a Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper, singer and record producer, best known as a member of the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel. Wisin is noted for his unique and aggressive style of rapping.
Now Esto Es Musica! Latino 3 was released on October 2, 2007. Unlike the previous two NOW Latino albums, this volume features eighteen tracks rather than twenty and adds songs from the salsa and bachata musical genres.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards grew out of the Billboard Music Awards program from Billboard Magazine, an industry publication charting the sales and radio airplay success of musical recordings. Originally launched as the Billboard Latin Music Conference in 1990, the first awards began in 1994. In addition to awards given on the basis of success on the Billboard charts, the ceremony includes the Spirit of Hope award for humanitarian achievements and the Lifetime Achievement award, as well as awards by the broadcasting partner.

The 9th annual Billboard Latin Music Awards, which honor the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music, took place May 9 in Miami. Winners are determined by the actual sales and radio airplay data that informs Billboard's weekly charts, including Top Latin Albums, and radio charts, including Hot Latin Tracks, during a one-year period from the issue dated Feb. 17, 2001 through the Feb. 9, 2002, issue.
All Up 2 You is the second single by Aventura from their album The Last. The song features Akon and Wisin & Yandel. On April 23, they performed the song at the 2009 Latin Billboard Music Awards. Aventura member Romeo uses the auto-tune effect in his vocals. A merengue remix was made for the song. The song was also included on Wisin & Yandel's re-release album La Revolución: Evolution, and for the Mexican and Brazilian edition there is a remix featuring dancehall artist Adrian Banton. In Premios Lo Nuestro 2010, the song was nominated for Urban Song of the Year, losing to Tito el Bambino's "El Amor" and Collaboration of the Year losing to Luis Fonsi's "Aquí Estoy Yo". In 2011, Aventura released a greatest hits album exclusively for Spain in which included a remix version of the song in the same genre as a bonus track. This version did not include Akon and it was renamed "Vete".
Premio Lo Nuestro 2010 was held on Thursday February 18, 2010 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL was broadcast live on the Univision Network. The nominees were announced in December 2009 during a live televised morning show Despierta América! on Univision Network. This year marked the first time the awards are presented in High Definition.
