The 29th Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, presented by Billboard to honor the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music, took place on September 29, 2022, at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida. [1] The ceremony was broadcast by Telemundo.

The nominations were announced on August 18, 2022. [2] Puerto Rican singer Chayanne received the Icon Award at the ceremony. [3] Christina Aguilera was honored with the Spirit of Hope award, and also performed.

Winners and nominees

The nominations were announced on August 18, 2022, with Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny leading with 23, followed by Karol G with 15, Farruko, with 11, Rauw Alejandro with 10, Aventura with 7 and Eslabon Armado with 6. [2] With 23 nominations, Bad Bunny became one of the two artist to receive that amount of nominations in one ceremony, the other being Ozuna at the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Marcos Efraín Masís Fernández, known professionally as Tainy, is a Puerto Rican record producer and songwriter. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he entered the world of reggaeton with his work on Mas Flow 2.

The Billboard Icon Award was established at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards to recognize music singers and contribution. The recipient of the award also performs during the ceremony. In 2021, the Icon Award was included on the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

The Latin American Music Awards is an annual American music awards show produced by TelevisaUnivision. It is the Spanish-language counterpart of the American Music Awards (AMAs). As with AMAs, the Latin AMAs are determined by a poll of the public and music buyers and is produced by SOMOS Productions. The first Latin AMAs debuted on October 8, 2015, on Telemundo and was hosted by Lucero. The awards were not held in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, they resumed a year later.

The Billboard Latin Music Award for Hot Latin Song of the Year is an honor presented annually at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, a ceremony which honors "the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music, as determined by the actual sales, radio airplay, online streaming and social data that informs Billboard's weekly charts." The award is given to the best performing singles on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, which measures the most popular Latin recordings in the United States. The 25th Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, presented by Billboard magazine, honored the best performing Latin recordings of 2017 and took place on April 26, 2018 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Billboard presented awards in 60 categories. The ceremony was televised in the United States by Telemundo for the 20th time, and was the culmination of the Billboard Latin Music Conference, which also took place from April 23 to April 26, 2018. Actress Gaby Espino and television presenter Marco Antonio Regil hosted the show. Espino first presided over the 22nd Billboard Latin Music Awards held in 2015. The awards recognized the most popular Latin performers, songs, albums, labels, songwriters and producers in the United States. Recipients were based on sales, radio airplay, online streaming and social data during a one-year period from the issue dated February 4, 2017 through January 27, 2018.

The Billboard Latin Music Award for Streaming Song of the Year is an honor presented annually at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, a ceremony which honors "the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music, as determined by the actual sales, radio airplay, online streaming and social data that informs Billboard's weekly charts." The award is given to the best performing singles on Billboard's Latin Streaming Songs chart, which measures the most streamed Spanish-language recordings "on leading online music services" in the United States. The list was established by the magazine on April 20, 2013.

Eslabon Armado is a Mexican American regional Mexican group formed in 2017. The group consists of Pedro Tovar, Brian Tovar (bass), Damian Pacheco and Ulises González. They have released six studio albums and have received several awards and nominations including two Billboard Music Awards, two Billboard Latin Music Awards and two Latin American Music Awards.

The 28th Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, presented by Billboard to honor the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music, took place on September 23, 2021, at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

The Billboard Spirit of Hope is an honor that is presented by Billboard magazine to an artist or a group in recognition of their extraordinary philanthropic and humanitarian contributions beyond their musical work." The accolade was established in 1996 in honor of Selena, who died a year earlier. The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award is decided by the Billboard editorial committee. The Spirit of Hope Award was first given to Cuban American singer Gloria Estefan.

The 7th Annual Latin American Music Awards were held at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were broadcast live on Telemundo. Bad Bunny lead the nominations with ten nods, while Karol G was the top winner, with ten nods.

"Jugaste y Sufri" is a song by Eslabon Armado featuring DannyLux. It was released on the band's third studio album, Corta Venas, by DEL Records on December 18, 2020. The song peaked at number 69 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at number 3 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
