The 2010 Supercoppa Italiana was the 23rd Supercoppa Italiana, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Serie A and Coppa Italia competitions. The match was played at the San Siro on 21 August 2010, and contested by league and cup double winners Internazionale and cup runners-up Roma. [2] The Supercoppa Italiana is usually contested by the winners of the Serie A and the Coppa Italia, but since Internazionale won both the competitions, Roma were their opponents. Internazionale won the title 3–1. [3] [4]

The 2006 Supercoppa Italiana was a match contested by the 2005–06 Serie A winners Internazionale and the 2005–06 Coppa Italia runners-up Roma. While Juventus were originally the first-placed team in Serie A, the title was put sub judice due to their involvement in the Calciopoli scandal, with Internazionale instead declared champions by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) on 26 July 2006.

The 2008 Coppa Italia Final was the final match of the 2007–08 Coppa Italia, the top cup competition in Italian football. The match was played on 24 May 2008, between defending champions A.S. Roma and Internazionale at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. This was the fourth consecutive and total final between these two clubs. Roma successfully defended their title as cup winners, defeating Inter by a score of 2–1. Roma qualified for the 2008 Supercoppa Italiana, for which Inter qualified regardless as Serie A champions.

Roma were playing in the final for the 14th time, while Inter were competing in their 10th final.

The 2008 Supercoppa Italiana was a football match that was played by 2007–08 Serie A winners Internazionale and 2007–08 Coppa Italia winners Roma. The match proved to be a tightly contested affair. After exchanging goals, it appeared that Inter was on its way to victory on Mario Balotelli's goal on the 83rd minute, however, Mirko Vučinić tied the game for Roma at the 90th minute. Extra time settled nothing. In the penalty shoot-out, it appeared that a miss by Inter's Dejan Stanković would be decisive, however, Roma captain Francesco Totti missed the team's fifth shot, which would have given his team the cup. In the seventh round, Roma's Juan missed while Inter captain Javier Zanetti scored, ending the match in favour of the Serie A champions.

The 2010–11 season was Associazione Sportiva Roma's 83rd in existence and 78th season in the top flight of Italian football. Claudio Ranieri began his second season as coach, but resigned as manager on 20 February 2011. He was immediately replaced by Vincenzo Montella as a caretaker for the rest of the season.

On 11 November 2021, it was announced that the match would be played on 12 January 2022 at San Siro, Milan.
