The 2012 Bray Wanderers F.C. season is the club's 28th season competing in the League of Ireland and the team's first season under the management of Keith Long as Pat Devlin took up the director of football role at the club. It's the team's eighth consecutive season in the Premier Division. Long left his role in September and Devlin retook the manager's role.

The 2011 FAI Senior Challenge Cup, also known as the 2011 FAI Ford Cup, is the 91st season of the national football competition of the Republic of Ireland. The winners of the competition will earn spots in both the second qualifying round of the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League and the 2012 Setanta Sports Cup.

The 2011 Sligo Rovers F.C. season is the club's 67th season competing in the League of Ireland and the team's fifth season under the management of Paul Cook.

In 2012 Shelbourne F.C. competed in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Shelbourne finished the season in 8th position and reached the semi-finals of the 2012 FAI Cup. The 2012 season marked the first time Shelbourne competed in the Premier Division since 2006, when as champions, they were demoted due to financial issues. Shelbourne gained promotion by finishing 2nd in the 2011 League of Ireland First Division.

The 2012 season was Bohemians's 92nd season in the League of Ireland. Having finished 5th in the league the previous year the club played in the 2012 League of Ireland Premier Division under manager Aaron Callaghan. During the season they also competed in the 2012 FAI Cup, the 2012 League of Ireland Cup, the Setanta Cup, the Leinster Senior Cup and the UEFA Europa League.

The 2012 Shamrock Rovers F.C. season is the club's 91st season competing in the League of Ireland and their 6th consecutive season in the top-flight of Irish football.

The 2012 Sligo Rovers F.C. season was the club's 68th season competing in the League of Ireland and the team's first season under the management of Ian Baraclough. It was the team's seventh consecutive season in the Premier Division. Sligo Rovers won their first title in 35 years.

The 2012 season was Derry City's second successive season in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Alongside the league competition, the club also competed in the FAI Cup, the Setanta Sports Cup and the League of Ireland Cup this season. Having finished in third place in the 2011 Premier Division, Derry City would have qualified for the first qualifying round of the 2012-13 UEFA Europa League but they did not participate as the club were refused entry by UEFA due to a three-year European ban given to the club following their liquidation in 2009. The 2013 League of Ireland Premier Division was the 29th season of the League of Ireland Premier Division. The division featured 12 teams. St. Patrick's Athletic were champions, winning their eighth top level League of Ireland title. Dundalk finished as runners-up.

The 2013 season was St. Patrick's Athletic F.C.'s 84th year in existence and their 62nd consecutive season in the League of Ireland. It was the second year that Liam Buckley was the team's manager, following replacing Pete Mahon in December 2011. St Pat's finished the season as the 2013 League of Ireland Premier Division champions. They were also Leinster Senior Cup runners up. They also competed in the UEFA Europa League, the FAI Cup, the Setanta Cup and the League of Ireland Cup.

It's the team's eighth consecutive season in the Premier Division where they are defending champions. They will be making their first appearance in the Champions League since 1977.

The 2012 season was Dundalk's 4th successive season in the League of Ireland Premier Division. The club finished in 11th position, requiring them to play a promotion/relegation play-off against Waterford United of the First Division; a tie which they won on aggregate, thus retaining their place in the Premier Division for the 2013 season. During the season, the club also competed in the FAI Cup, League of Ireland Cup and the Leinster Senior Cup.

The 2012 season was University College Dublin A.F.C.'s third successive season in the League of Ireland Premier Division. The club, more commonly known as UCD, finished in 9th position and thus retained their place in the division for the 2013 season. During the 2012 season, the club also competed in the FAI Cup, League of Ireland Cup and the Leinster Senior Cup.

The 2013 season is Cork City F.C.'s 29th season competing in the League of Ireland, and 2nd consecutive season in the Premier Division. Tommy Dunne began his 4th year in charge of city in the 2013 season however it was confirmed in a club statement on 3 August 2013 that Cork City FC had parted company with the Dublin native after a bad run of results.
