Hsieh Su-wei and Zheng Saisai were the defending champions, but decided not to participate together. Hsieh played alongside Hsieh Shu-ying, but lost in the quarterfinals to Tamarine Tanasugarn and Zhang Shuai. Zheng competed with Tetiana Luzhanska, but lost in the semifinals to Jarmila Gajdošová and Monica Niculescu.
Tamarine Tanasugarn and Zhang Shuai defeated in the final the first seeded Jarmila Gajdošová and Monica Niculescu with the score 2–6, 6–2, [10–8].

It was the 9th edition of the Guangzhou International Women's Open, and part of the WTA International tournaments of the 2012 WTA Tour. It took place in Guangzhou, China, from September 17 through September 23, 2012.

Tetiana Luzhanska and Zheng Saisai are the defending champions.

Chanelle Scheepers was the defending champion, but lost to Urszula Radwańska in the quarterfinals.

Hsieh Su-wei was the defending champion, but decided not to participate.

Hsieh Su-wei and Barbora Strýcová defeated Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan in the final, 6−2, 6−4 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships. With the win, Strýcová attained the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking for the first time – Kristina Mladenovic, Elise Mertens and Ashleigh Barty were also in contention for the top ranking. Hsieh and Strýcová won the title without losing a set during the tournament.
