The 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Melching Field at Conrad Park on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, FL from May 22 through 25. East Tennessee State won their first tournament championship and claimed the Atlantic Sun Conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The Buccaneers joined the conference in 2005. [2] [3] [4]

Format and seeding

The 2013 tournament was an 8-team double-elimination tournament. The top eight teams (based on conference results) from the conference earned invitations to the tournament. Northern Kentucky was not eligible for the tournament while it was reclassifying from Division II. Kennesaw State claimed the sixth seed over Lipscomb by tiebreaker.

Mercer Bears

The Mercer Bears are the athletic teams of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, United States. Florida Gulf Coast Eagles

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles refer to the fifteen sports teams representing Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis; women's-only: softball, swimming and diving, indoor volleyball, and beach volleyball; and men's-only: baseball. The Eagles compete in the NCAA Division I and are members of the ASUN Conference (ASUN). FGCU is also notable as the youngest institution competing in NCAA Division I, having been officially founded in 1991 and started classes in 1997. Their mascot is Azul the Eagle.

The Belmont Bruins are the intercollegiate athletic teams of Belmont University located in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The Bruins athletic program is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and competes at the NCAA Division I level.

The top seven regular season finishers of the league's fifteen teams met in the double-elimination tournament to be held at newly renovated Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the championship game, first-seeded Saint Louis defeated second-seeded Charlotte, 7-4, to win its third tournament championship. Saint Louis earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. As a team, SLU collected 92 hits in six days, shattering the previous A-10 Tournament record of 65.

The 2013 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament was held at M. L. Tigue Moore Field on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Lafayette, Louisiana from May 22nd to May 26th, 2013. The tournament returned to the double-elimination format used prior to the two year experiment with pool play in 2011 and 2012. Florida Atlantic won their first tournament championship and earned the Sun Belt Conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. Florida Atlantic joined the conference in 2006, and left for Conference USA after the 2013 season.

The 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament was held from May 23–26. The top four regular season finishers of the league's teams met in the double-elimination tournament held at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton, NJ. Canisius, the tournament champion, earned the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

The 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Melching Field at Conrad Park on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Florida from May 25 through 27. Stetson won its sixth tournament championship, and second in a row, to earn the Atlantic Sun Conference's automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

The 2014 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 14, 2014. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2014 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament and 2014 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 25, 2014 with the final game of the best-of-three championship series between Vanderbilt and Virginia, won by Vanderbilt.

Kennesaw State won their first tournament championship and claimed the Atlantic Sun Conference's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

Craig Gibson is an American college baseball coach and former first baseman. He is the head baseball coach at Mercer University since the start of the 2004 season. Under Gibson, Mercer has appeared in its first two NCAA Tournaments. A Macon native, Gibson is a Mercer alumnus and played baseball for the Bears from 1983–1986, winning a conference player of the year award as a junior.

Kevin Cooney is an American former college baseball coach who was the head coach at Montclair State from 1984–1987 and Florida Atlantic from 1988–2008. Under Cooney, the teams combined to appear in 11 NCAA Tournaments, including six in Division I. Montclair State won the Division III National Championship in 1987. Individually, Cooney was named the TAAC Coach of the Year in 1999.

The 1995 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) began in the spring of 1995. The season progressed through the regular season and concluded with the 1995 College World Series. The College World Series, held for the forty ninth time in 1995, consisted of one team from each of eight regional competitions and was held in Omaha, Nebraska at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium as a double-elimination tournament. Cal State Fullerton claimed the championship for the second time.

The 2016 Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Tournament was held at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee from May 25 through 28. Sixth-seeded Stetson won their seventh tournament championship and claimed the Atlantic Sun Conference's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.
