The 2013 Canadian Track and Field Championships was the year's national championship in outdoor track and field for Canada. It was held from 20 to 23 June at Moncton Stadium in Moncton, New Brunswick. It served as the selection meeting for the 2013 World Championships in Athletics.

The 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics was an international athletics competition for athletes under the age of 20 which was held at the Moncton Stadium in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada from 19 to 25 July 2010. A total of 44 athletics events were contested at the Championships, 22 by male and 22 by female athletes. It was the second time that the event took place in Canada, after the 1988 edition in Sudbury. This became the last event announced by Scott Davis.

Croix-Bleue Medavie Stadium, formerly Moncton Stadium, is a track and field stadium on the campus of the Université de Moncton in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, built to host the IAAF 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics. The $17 million venue opened in 2010. Although seating capacity had fluctuated early in construction, the stadium has 8,300 permanent seats, and is expandable to 25,000 via temporary seating. It is the home field for the Moncton Aigles Bleus soccer teams.

Canada competed at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics from 15–23 August. A team of 31 athletes was announced in preparation for the competition. Selected athletes have achieved one of the competition's qualifying standards. The team includes the 2007 World Championships silver medallists Perdita Felicien and Gary Reed.

In 2011, the foremost athletics event was the 2011 World Championships in Athletics in Daegu. The other major global level competition held in 2011 was the World Cross Country Championships.

Sheila Reid is a Canadian track and field Olympian who competes in cross country, middle and long-distance running events. She competed collegiately at Villanova University. Reid won the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship, and in June 2011 became the first woman to win the 5000 m and the 1500 m at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship. She won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female cross country runner in 2011, repeated as the best female cross country runner in 2012, and also won the Honda Sports Award for Track and field in 2012.

Cheuk Yuen Victoria Poon is a Canadian competitive swimmer who specialises in freestyle events. She was born in Hong Kong. She moved to Canada when she was 11 years old. She lives in the LaSalle borough of Montreal, Quebec. She is the former national record holder in the women's 50m freestyle, with a time of 24.75s.

The Moncton Aigles Bleues women's ice hockey team represents the University of Moncton in U Sports women's ice hockey. The Aigles Bleues compete in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Conference in the U Sports athletic association. The program has won three conference championships and has made four national championship tournament appearances with their best finish occurring in 2009 with a bronze medal victory.

The 2013 African Junior Athletics Championships was the eleventh edition of the biennial, continental athletics tournament for African athletes aged 19 years or younger. It was held at the Germain Comarmond Stadium in Bambous, Mauritius from 29 August – 1 September. A total of 223 athletes from 29 nations competed. Neither pole vault event was held, due to a lack of entries, and the decathlon and heptathlon competitions were also not contested.

Alysha Eveline Newman is a Canadian track and field athlete who specializes in the pole vault. She competed at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. Newman was the 2018 Commonwealth Games champion in the women's pole vault, where she set a new Games record of 4.75 metres (15.6 ft).

The Arab Youth Athletics Championships is an biennial international athletics competition between youth athletes (under-18) from Arabic countries. It is organised by the Arab Athletic Association.

The 2007 Arab Youth Athletics Championships was the second edition of the international athletics competition for under-18 athletes from Arab countries. Organised by the Arab Athletic Federation, it took place in the Syrian capital of Damascus from 27–29 June. A total of thirty-nine events were contested, of which 20 by male and 19 by female athletes, matching the programme of the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics bar the exclusion of a girls' steeplechase event.

The 2009 Arab Youth Athletics Championships was the third edition of the international athletics competition for under-18 athletes from Arab countries. Organised by the Arab Athletic Federation, it took place in the Syrian city of Aleppo from 22 to 24 July. A total of thirty-eight events were contested, of which 20 by male and 18 by female athletes. The difference was accounted for by the lack of steeplechase and pole vault events for girls.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">John Kibet Koech</span> Kenyan-born long-distance runner (born 1995)

John Kibet Koech is a Kenyan-born long-distance runner who competes internationally for Bahrain. He specialises in the 3000 metres steeplechase and was the winner of the event at the 2015 Asian Athletics Championships. His elder brother Isiah is an Olympic long-distance runner.

Sinali Alima Outtara is an Ivorian pole vaulter, who is the national record holder in indoor and outdoor pole vault events. She won a bronze medal at the 2010 African Championships in Athletics, a silver medal at the 2011 All-Africa Games, and a bronze medal at the 2015 African Games.
