Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková won the tournament, defeating Belinda Bencic and Sara Sorribes Tormo in the final, 6–3, 6–4. This was the Czech pair's third Grand Slam victory in a row. Krejčíková became the fourth girls' doubles player to reach all of the Grand Slam finals in a calendar year after Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Urszula Radwańska and Tímea Babos.

Annika Beck was the 2012 champion, but was no longer eligible to compete in junior tennis, and thus couldn't defend her title.

With the win, Strýcová attained the WTA no. 1 doubles ranking for the first time – Kristina Mladenovic, Elise Mertens and Ashleigh Barty were also in contention for the top ranking. Hsieh and Strýcová won the title without losing a set during the tournament.

Defending champions Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic defeated Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk in the final, 6–4, 7–5 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2020 French Open.

It was Hsieh's second French Open title, and fifth major title overall; it was Wang's first major title. Fernandez became the first Canadian finalist.
