Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2013 Miami Open. It was her record sixth Miami Open title, and Sharapova's fifth runner-up finish without winning the title.
Irina Buryachok and Valeria Solovyeva were the defending champions, but Solovyeva decided not to participate.
Buryachok successfully defended the title alongside Oksana Kalashnikova, defeating Eleni Daniilidou and Aleksandra Krunić in the final, 4–6, 7–6(7–3), [10–4].

Elena Vesnina defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, 6–7(6–8), 7–5, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 Indian Wells Masters. It was Vesnina's first WTA 1000 singles title and the last singles title of her career. This was the second all-Russian final in tournament history, following the 2006 edition.

Ashleigh Barty defeated Karolína Plíšková in the final, 7–6(7–1), 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 Miami Open. It was Barty's first WTA Premier Mandatory title. She entered the top 10 in the WTA rankings for the first time with the win.
