The 2014 Texas Longhorns volleyball team represented the University of Texas in the 2014 NCAA Division I women's volleyball season. The Texas Longhorns women's volleyball team, led by 14th year head coach Jerritt Elliott, played their home games at Gregory Gymnasium. The Longhorns were members of the Big 12 and were picked to win the conference title in the preseason poll. [1]

Contents

The Longhorns won the Big 12 Championship and advanced to the National semifinals for the third time in four years. In the national semifinal Texas fell to unseeded BYU 3–1 to end their season.

Nell Fortner is the current women's college basketball coach at Georgia Tech. She is most well known for leading the 2000 Olympics team to a gold medal. In April 2018, she was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

The 2012 Valero Alamo Bowl, the 20th edition of the game, was a postseason college football bowl game between the Texas Longhorns and the Oregon State Beavers at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, held on December 29, 2012 at 5:45 p.m. CST and was broadcast on ESPN. The game was the final contest of the 2012 NCAA Division I-Football Bowl Subdivision football season for both teams, and ended in a 31–27 victory for Texas. Texas represented the Big 12 Conference in the game, while Oregon State represented the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12).

The 2014 BYU Cougars women's volleyball team represented Brigham Young University in the 2014 NCAA Division I women's volleyball season. The Cougars, led by fourth year head coach Shawn Olmstead, played their home games at Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars were members of the WCC and were picked to win the conference title in the preseason poll.

Marvin Christopher Kristynik is a former football player and coach who started as quarterback for the Texas Longhorns in the mid 1960s. He was the third-string quarterback on Texas' first national championship team in 1963, before becoming the starter the following two years. After graduating, he spent a decade as an assistant coach before leaving the profession as the offensive coordinator for the University of Texas at El Paso.

The 2022–23 Texas Longhorns men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by interim head coach Rodney Terry and played their home games at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas as members of the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns played at the newly-built Moody Center after playing at Frank Erwin Center for 45 years. They finished the season 23–8, 12–6 in Big 12 play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament, they defeated Oklahoma State, TCU, and top-seeded Kansas to win the tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, where they defeated Colgate, Penn State, and Xavier to reach the Elite Eight, their first appearance since 2008. There, the Longhorns finally fell to Miami (FL), bringing their season to a close with a final record of 29–9.
