The 2015–16 Os Garridos season were in the island division of football (soccer). The club finished 10th behind Vitória da Praia and ahead of Varanda and above the relegation zone which meant the club participated for one more season. [1]
The club scored 27 goals which was fifth in the region and had 18 points, 5 wins, 3 ties and 14 losse. More than a quarter of the goals scored were two matches with Vitória and Eugênio Lima, 18 or 36.7% with the match with Varanda.
The 2015-16 season started 9th and finished 10th which was above the relegation zone which meant Garridos participated for one more season. [1]
The 2015–16 Santiago Island League (South) season was the competition of the second and third tier football in the southern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. Its started on 13 November 2014 and finished on 8 May 2016. The tournament was organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association. All the matches were played at Estádio da Várzea. Desportivo won the first and only title for the South Zone and participated in the 2016 Cape Verdean Football Championships and finished with 47 points, Desportivo's last title win for Santiago was in 1990 and totals three overall.

As the governing body of association football, FIFA is responsible for maintaining and implementing the rules that determine whether an association football player is eligible to represent a particular country in officially recognised international competitions and friendly matches. In the 20th century, FIFA allowed a player to represent any national team, as long as the player held citizenship of that country. In 2004, in reaction to the growing trend towards naturalisation of foreign players in some countries, FIFA implemented a significant new ruling that requires a player to demonstrate a "clear connection" to any country they wish to represent. FIFA has used its authority to overturn results of competitive international matches that feature ineligible players.
