The 2015–16 CS Mindelense season were in the island and top division of Cape Verdean football. The club won the island's 48th title, a record of all the island titles won by any club in Cape Verde. As they were the 2015 national league winners, they would participate and claim the nation's 11th title. [1]

The club scored a total of 42 goals, about one fifth last season. Of which 24 was scored in the São Vicente League which was a third less and 18 in the national championships, 11 in the regular season and 7 in the playoffs. Their total points was 30 for the island and 11 in the national championships totalling 41. [2]

At the time, Mindelense's regional championship titles covered more than 61% of the 78 regional titles.

São Vicente Island League

The 2016 season was third place in weeks 1 and 3, in week 2, Mindelense was fourth, the remainder was at the number one spot Mindelense won a record breaking 48th title in the island. The club scored 30 goals.

Mindelense finished with 9 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses, every loss was during the final two weeks of the championships.

The first match of the season ended in a draw with Falcões do Norte with a goal apiece. The next three matches ended in victory including Farense, Batuque and Salamansa (0-5), the latter ended with Mindelense scoring five goals. The week 5 match with Accadémica ended in a scoreless draw. Week 6 was victorious as they scored 3-0 over Amarante. The seventh week match with Derby ended in a goal draw. Mindelense won the next five matches until week 13 when the remaining two matches ended in a loss, first to Amarante then to Derby. Mindelense's 13th round challenge was the last challenge with Amarante at the championships after 78 years being in the second tier competition. The 0-5 victory over Salamansa would be repeated again on 19 March 2017.

Thus their 34 matches left without losing was finished on April 16 after losing to Amarante 2-0 at week 15, Mindelense's first loss in more than two years and became the longest of any of the regional championships in the country and also for matches won away being 13. Mindelense had 18 home matches without any loss, their next and recent home loss at home was 0-1 to Derby on April 24 in the final week of the season, their first lost at home since January 12, 2014 to Amarante. Mindelense's loss to Derby on April 24 is the last match lost to date for the club.

São Vicente Cup

Mindelense advanced all the way to the cup finals. Where the club lost the super cup final match to Salamansa from the north of the island. Mindelense did not score a single goal.

São Vicente Super Cup

The regional super cup took place earlier on October 16, 2016. As regional champion, the club challenged Salamansa, Mindelense defeated Salamansa to win their second consecutive super cup making it a total of four.

Cape Verdean National League

Even though as they were the 2015 national winners, as they won an island title, the club achieved entry and would go ahead to claim the country's 11th title.

Again for the third time, the club would play its matches in Group B. The club was first placed like last season and had three wins and two draws. One was at the first week with Académica Porto North and another at the third week with Académico 83 from Maio. The final match was played with Sal's Académico of Sal Airport and advanced into the semis.

Mainly due to scheduling problems, Mindelense did not participated in the CAF Champions League in 2017.

Playoffs

The club advanced into the playoffs, in the semis, Mindelense challenged Varandinha for the first time, Mindelense won all two matches, the final challenge was against Académica do Porto Novo second time in the national ginals, Mindelense lost the first, Mindelense won the second as Djinkely scored at the 38th minute in Porto Novo. As the goal totals were a goal apiece, Mindelense won the penalty shootout 4-5 and claimed their 11th national title [1]

Clube Sportivo Mindelense (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: KS Mindelensi, São Vicente Crioulo: KS Mindelense is a football club that plays in the Premier division of the Interisland League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente. Mindelense is the oldest club in Cape Verde. It is the team won the most cups before and after independence especially in the 1950s and the 1970s with nine titles before independence and eleven after independence. Their first participation in the national division before independence was unofficially in 1938 and officially in 1954, Mindelense first appeared after independence in 1980. Associação Académica do Mindelo is a football club that had played in the Premier division and the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente and plays in a stadium with a capacity of 5,000. The club is an affiliate of the Portuguese club Académica de Coimbra. It is one of the first teams ever to win a provincial title before independence, in 1953, a year later. There was no further competition until 1956. Académica won their first title since independence in 1989. Other titles includes four for the island including their recent 2006/07 season win and two opening tournaments along with their recent win.

The Cape Verdean Football Championship or the Campeonato Caboverdiano de Futebol is a football competition that was created in 1976 in Cape Verde. A local championship was founded in 1953 before independence, when the islands were still part of the Portuguese Empire.

Batuque FC

Batuque Futebol Clube is a football club that plays in the São Vicente Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of Mindelo on the island of São Vicente. Its current president is Jota who became first president in around the mid 2000s. Its nickname is Panteras (Panthers) which is also Portugal's Boavista F.C. nickname, the club is not an affilaite to that club. Since 30 April 2017, they are one of three unrelegated clubs in the island along with Derby and Mindelense.

Paulense Desportivo Clube is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santo Antão Island League North Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the town of Pombas, the seat of Paúl in the northeastern part of the island of Santo Antão and is being the main club of Vale do Paul. Its current manager is Alberto Teixeira. Its nickname is Encarnados, the same nickname of Portugal's S.L. Benfica and many other clubs affiliated to Benfica. Since the introduction of the Second Division in the 2012-13 season, the club are one of two that have never been relegated, the other is Os Foguetões.

The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The schedule including its matches were created on Saturday January 10. CS Mindelense won the eleventh title and became the second club after Sporting Praia to win three in a row. The scheduling was completed on November 16 and the group system was kept insteading of becoming a one portion season without playoffs and was the last time. CS Mindelense won the record breaking title and became the second club after Sporting Praia to win four in a row, the highest ever, also it was Mindelense's last. Mindelense chose to not participate in the CAF Champions League competition in 2017, Académica do Porto Novo did not participate in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup, both of the clubs due to financial concerns, of any club, it is the eighth consecutive time and becomes the recent African nation not to bring a champion to the continentals for the most consecutive years, in the cup competition, Cape Verde is the longest for not bringing a club in Africa lasting for more than 15 years straight, not even the three national cup winners competed.
