The 2015 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team represents Georgia Institute of Technology during the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Yellow Jackets play their home games at Russ Chandler Stadium as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They are led by head coach Danny Hall, in his 22nd season at Georgia Tech.

Previous season

In 2014, the Yellow Jackets finished the season 5th in the ACC's Coastal Division with a record of 37–27, 14–16 in conference play. They qualified for the 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament, and, after going 2–1 in pool play, defeated Maryland in the championship game to win their 9th conference tournament championship as a member of the ACC. They qualified for the 2014 NCAA Division I baseball tournament as the automatic bid from the ACC, marking their 7th straight tournament appearance. They were placed in the Oxford Regional, along with Ole Miss, Washington, and Jacksonville State. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Huskies 0–8, but rebounded in their second game to defeat Jacksonville State, 4–2, in the loser's bracket. However, in their third game, a rematch with Washington, the Yellow Jackets were eliminated, losing 2–4.

Preseason

The Yellow Jackets opened their season with three games at home against a pair of opponents: St. John's and Fordham. Georgia Tech was originally scheduled to also face Liberty, but the game was cancelled due to impending cold weather. [3] The Yellow Jackets opened their season on February 13 against regularly-scheduled opponent St. John's, and defeated the Red Storm, 17–3. Georgia Tech scored six runs in the first inning in the victory. [4]

The 2011 Virginia Cavaliers football team represented the University of Virginia in the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cavaliers were led by second-year head coach Mike London and played their home games at Scott Stadium. They were members of the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Virginia had an 8–5 overall record on the season with a 5–3 mark in the ACC play to finish in a tie for second place in the Coastal Division. Memorable moments from the season include: upsetting #12-ranked and undefeated Georgia Tech and defeating Florida State in Tallahassee for the first time in school history. The 2014 Maryland Terrapins baseball team represented the University of Maryland, College Park during the 2014 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Terrapins played their home games at Shipley Field, in their final season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Maryland finished the regular season with a 34–19 record, including a 15–14 record in ACC play, finishing in a tie for second place in the ACC Atlantic Division standings, behind Florida State and tied with Clemson. Led by fifth-year head coach Paul Hewitt, the Yellow Jackets had high expectations entering the season with numerous returning players from the previous season's NCAA Tournament runner-up team. They were ranked in the top 5 of preseason AP and Coaches' Polls, receiving first-place votes in both. The team struggled to a .500 record in ACC play, but looked strong in the ACC Tournament, and received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Playing as No. 5 seed in the Midwest region, Georgia Tech beat George Washington before falling to No. 4 seed and eventual Final Four participant Louisville in the round of 32 to finish 20–12 overall.
