The Music of Pakistan includes diverse elements ranging from music from various parts of South Asia as well as Central Asian, Middle Eastern, and modern-day Western popular music influences. With these multiple influences, a distinctive Pakistani music has emerged.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sabri Brothers</span> Pakistani musical band

The Sabri Brothers were a musical band from Pakistan who were performers of Sufi qawwali music and were closely connected to the Chishti Order. They are considered one of the greatest Sufi qawwali singers of all times. The Sabri Brothers were led by Ghulam Farid Sabri and his brother Maqbool Ahmed Sabri. They are often referred to as Shahenshah-e-Qawwali and are also known as the roving ambassadors of Pakistan. The band was initially founded by Maqbool Ahmed Sabri at the age of 11 years and was known as Bacha Qawwal Party. His elder brother Ghulam Farid Sabri joined after insistence from their father. He became the leader of the group and the band soon became known as the Sabri Brothers. They were the first-ever qawwali artists to perform qawwali in the United States and other Western countries; they were also the first-ever Asian artists to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1975.

Abida Parveen is a Pakistani singer, composer and musician of Sufi music. She is also a painter and entrepreneur. Parveen is one of the highest paid singers in Pakistan. Her singing and music has earned her many accolades, and she has been dubbed as the 'Queen of Sufi music'.

Ghulam Farid Sabri was a qawwali singer and member of the Sabri Brothers, a qawwali group in Pakistan in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The Sabri Brothers received the Pride of Performance award by the President of Pakistan in 1978. Sabri was also a Sufi mystic connected to the Chishti Order.

<i>Badnaam</i> 1966 Pakistani film

Badnaam is a Pakistani film in Urdu language, released on 2 September 1966, adapted from Saadat Hasan Manto's short story Jhumkay ("Ear-rings") by screenwriter Riaz Shahid, and was the second film adaptation of the Manto's story after 1946 Bollywood adaptation. The film was directed and produced by Iqbal Shehzad, in his debut as a film director. Badnaam's cast included Allauddin, Nabeela, Neelo, Ejaz Durrani, Diljeet Mirza, Hameed Wain, Rangeela and Zumurrud.

Aaj Rang Hai also known as Rang or Rung (transl.Color) is a Qawwali written by the 13th-century Sufi poet, Amir Khusrau in Hindavi and Braj Bhasha dialects. In the song, Khusrau describes to his mother his ecstasy upon finding his murshid in the Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya. The song is a staple of most Qawwali sessions in North India and Pakistan, especially in the Chishti shrines of Delhi. It is traditionally sung as a closing piece at the end of a Qawwali session.

Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) is an annual international literary festival held in Karachi, Pakistan. It is the first festival of its kind in Pakistan. It is one of the world's youngest and fastest growing literary festivals. Till 2019, ten festivals have been held.

Mohsen Chavoshi Hosseini is an Iranian musician, singer, record producer and songwriter, based in Tehran. He has released ten albums, including a soundtrack to the 2007 film Santouri.

He has composed music for various television serials and films including Actor in Law, Na Maloom Afraad, Load Wedding, Teefa in Trouble, and The Donkey King. Shani Arshad, as a music composer, has made 16 super hit films background score and 18 television Soundtracks, also he has directed 11 musical compositions in Coke Studio (Pakistan). Shani Arshad also made orchestral music with Hungarian orchestra "Budapest Film Orchestra" for the film The Donkey King. He earned wider recognition for composing the OST of the popular Pakistani drama serial Tere Bin (Kya Hoti Hai Bewafai)

<i>ABU TV Song Festival</i> TV series or program

The ABU TV Song Festival is an annual non-competitive gala that showcases songs or instrumentals by musicians across Asia, organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). Participating countries which have full or additional full ABU membership are invited to submit a song to be performed in front of a live audience. It is live recorded so that each of the national broadcasters may add subtitles in their respective Asian languages.

Maqbool Ahmed Sabri was a Pakistani qawwali singer and a prominent member of the Sabri Brothers, one of the greatest qawwali groups of all times which belonged to Pakistan. The Sabri Brothers were honoured with the Pride of Performance Award in 1978.

Jeeto Pakistan is a Pakistani game show, hosted by actor Fahad Mustafa on ARY Digital. The show was launched on May 18,2014. It has been called the "biggest game show" in Pakistan. Jeeto Pakistan's participants are selected randomly from a studio audience who require passes to attend the show.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Amjad Sabri</span> Pakistani qawwali singer

Amjad Farid (Fareed) Sabri was a Pakistani qawwal, naat khawan and a proponent of the Sufi Muslim tradition. Son of Ghulam Farid Sabri and nephew of Maqbool Ahmed Sabri of the Sabri Brothers, he emerged as one of South Asia's most prominent qawwali singers, often reciting poems written by his father and uncle. The TTP Hakimullah Mehsud group has claimed responsibility for Sabri's death, saying that they carried out the assassination "for blasphemy."

The ninth season of the Pakistani music television series Coke Studio commenced airing in Pakistan on 13 August 2016, concluded on 24 September 2016 and contained seven episodes. Season nine aired Fridays (digitally) and Saturdays (televised), on various timings and channels across the country.

<i>Shan e Ramazan</i> Pakistani live television show

Shan-e-Ramazan is a Pakistani live television special transmission show of ARY Digital. The transmission includes the recitation of the Quran, Naat Sharif and discussion of various topics and highlighting the teachings of Islam and also includes some relevant competitions like quiz and debate competitions. It is hosted by Pakistani news anchor and host Waseem Badami on ARY Digital.
