The 2016–17 Macedonian First League was the 25th season of the Macedonian First League, with 10 teams participating in it. The season's regular season started on 19 November 2016 and finished on 4 March 2017. MZT Skopje and Karpoš Sokoli joined the league in a further stage. The season finished with the last game of the Finals on 27 May 2017. MZT Skopje won its sixth national title. [1]

Teams

MZT Skopje participated in both ABA League and EuroCup Basketball. Karpoš Sokoli participated in both ABA League and Balkan International Basketball League. Both teams would join the First League after January 2017 with the start of the second stage.

The 2012–13 ABA League was the 12th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Hungary participating in it. This was the first time a team from Macedonia, MZT Skopje, and a team from Hungary, Szolnoki Olaj were taking part in this regional league, and the fourth time since the league's creation that team that is not from the former Yugoslavia participates in it. It was also for the first time that two best teams ABA League gained automatic access to the next seasons Euroleague competition, while third placed gained wild card to Euroleague qualification round.

The 2015–16 Macedonian First League was the 24th season of the Macedonian First League, with 8 teams participating in it.

The 2016–17 ABA League was the 16th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia participating in it. It started on September 29, 2016 with the first round of the regular season and the regular season ended on March 13, 2017 followed by playoffs of the four best placed teams. The Play-offs were played from March 18 till April 13, 2017. Crvena zvezda won its third ABA League championship, after beating Cedevita 3–0 in the Finals.

The 2016–17 BIBL, is the ninth edition of Balkan International Basketball League. It started on 10 October 2016.

In the 2016–17 season, Partizan NIS Belgrade competed in the Basketball League of Serbia, the Radivoj Korać Cup, the Adriatic League and the Champions League.

The 2017–18 ABA League First Division was the 17th season of the ABA League with 12 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia participating in it. It was the inaugural season as the first tier as a part of two level competition.

The 2018–19 ABA League Second Division is the 2nd season of the ABA Second Division with 12 teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia participating in it.

Daniel Jansen is an American professional basketball player who last played for MZT Skopje of the Macedonian League. He played college basketball at Augustana University from 2012–2016.

The 2017–18 Macedonian First League was the 26th season of the Macedonian First League, with 12 teams participating in it. The season started in November 2017 and ended May 2018. Rabotnički achieved their fifteenth title after defeating MZT Skopje in the finals, that won the six previous championships.

The 2017–18 Junior ABA League is the inaugural season of the Junior ABA League with ten men's under-19 teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Macedonia participating in it. Teams are the junior selections of the 2017–18 ABA League First Division teams.

The 2018–19 Macedonian First League will be the 27th season of the Macedonian First League, with 11 teams participating in it.

The 2019–20 Junior ABA League was the 3rd season of the Junior ABA League with twelve men's under-19 teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia. Teams are the junior selections of the ABA League teams.
