The International Shooting Sport Federation recognizes several shooting events, some of which have Olympic status. They are divided into four disciplines: rifle, pistol, shotgun and running target.
The ISSF World Shooting Championships are governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation. World Shooting Championships began in 1897, after the successful 1896 Summer Olympics, and although the ISSF was not founded until 1907, these early competitions are still seen by the organization as the beginning of a continuous row of championships. By this logic, the 2006 competition in Zagreb was called the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships. These championships, including all ISSF shooting events, are held every four years since 1954. For the shotgun events only, there is an additional World Championship competition in odd-numbered years. These extra competitions are not numbered. In running target, there will be World Championships in Olympic years.
Ronak Pandit is an Indian sport shooter. He won gold medal in the Men's 25m Standard Pistol (Pairs) with Samaresh Jung at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He is married to Indian shooter Heena Sidhu and has a daughter named Reyah. He is also the coach of Indian pistol team preparing for Tokyo Olympics.
Heena Sidhu is an Indian sport shooter. On 7 April 2014, Sidhu became the first Indian pistol shooter to reach number one in world rankings by the International Shooting Sport Federation. In 2013, Sidhu became the first Indian pistol shooter to win a gold medal in an ISSF World Cup finals when she won the 10-metre air pistol event. In 2014, Sidhu was the World record holder in the 10-metre air pistol event with a final score of 203.8. Sidhu is right handed and is right eye dominant.
The 2009 Asian Airgun Championships were held in Doha, Qatar between December 16 and December 22, 2009. It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore.
Najmeh Khedmati is an Iranian female sport shooter. She qualified to represent Iran at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the women's 10 metre air rifle event.
Mehuli Ghosh is an Indian sport shooter. She represents India at international junior shooting championships across the world. Among 123 competitors, she was the only Indian shooting athlete to reach the finals of the 2018 junior shooting competition held in the Czech Republic. She finished in seventh place there. In 2018, at the XXI Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast, Australia, she won a silver medal in Women's 10m Air Rifle after a shoot-off with Martina Veloso. According to the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), she has a world ranking of sixth and third in Asia.
Arjun Babuta is an Indian sport shooter. He is from Chandigarh who competes in the 10 meter air rifle events. Arjun has been a part of the Indian Shooting Team since 2016. He has represented India at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2016(Suhl), ISSF Junior World Cup 2016(Gabala), ISSF Junior World Championship 2017(Suhl) and the ISSF Junior World Cup 2018(Sydney).
The 2013 Asian Airgun Championships along with 25 m and 50 m Rifle and Pistol were held at Azadi Sport Complex, Tehran, Iran between 18 and 26 October 2013.
The 2014 Asian Airgun Championships were held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, Kuwait City, Kuwait between March 7 and March 13, 2014.
The 2015 Asian Airgun Championships were held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, New Delhi, India between 25 September and 1 October 2015.
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar is an Indian sport shooter. He won the bronze medal in the 50 metre rifle three positions event at the 2019 Asian Shooting Championships and secured a quota place for India at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Pawan Singh is a former Indian rifle shooter and shooting coach of the Indian shooting team. He is the first and only Indian shooting official to get elected as a member of the International Shooting Sport Federation's (ISSF) Judges Committee in the General Assembly elections held in Germany in 2018. He holds the post of the Joint Secretary-General of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
Haniyeh Rostamiyan is an Iranian sports shooter. She represented Iran at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the Women's 10 metre air pistol event, where she placed tenth, and in the 10 metre air pistol mixed team event, where her team placed fifth. She was also one of Iran's two flag bearers.
The 2021 Asian Airgun Championships were held at Shooting Plaza Complex, Shymkent, Kazakhstan between 12 and 19 September 2021.
