The 2017 Louisville Cardinals baseball team represents the University of Louisville during the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Cardinals play their home games at Jim Patterson Stadium as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They are led by head coach Dan McDonnell, in his eleventh year at Louisville.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Cardinals were selected to host their fifth consecutive NCAA Regional. [1] The Cardinals would win both the Louisville Regional and Louisville Super Regional and receive an invitation to the 2017 College World Series before eventually losing to TCU by a score of 3–4. [2] Five players from the team, including Brendan McKay, were selected in the 2017 MLB Draft. [3]

Previous season

In 2016, the Cardinals finished as champions of the Atlantic Coast Conference with a record of 46–10, 22–8 in conference play, in their second season in the conference. They qualified for the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament, where they played in Division B of inter-conference tournament play. The Cardinals would finish 1–2 in the tournament, not advancing to the conference tournament finals.

With the Cardinals finishing the season as regular season champs of the Atlantic Division of the ACC, they would qualify for the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, and were selected as hosts of the Louisville regional and Louisville Super Regional, if they advanced to that round. The Cardinals would wins three straight matches in the Louisville Regional and would advance to the Super Regional (of which they were hosts) by defeating Western Michigan 6–1, Ohio State 15–3, and Wright State 3–1. In the Super Regional, Louisville hosted UC Santa Barbara in a best-of-three matchup. Louisville would lose the first two games to UC Santa Barbara, ending their playoff run.

The Louisville Cardinals are the NCAA athletic teams representing the University of Louisville. The Cardinals teams play in the Atlantic Coast Conference, beginning in the 2014 season. While playing in the Big East Conference from 2005 through 2013, the Cardinals captured 17 regular season Big East titles and 33 Big East Tournament titles totaling 50 Big East Championships across all sports. The team's head coach is Brian O'Connor. The team has reached the College World Series seven times, most recently in 2024, and won the national championship in 2015.

The Louisville Cardinals baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of the University of Louisville, located in Louisville, Kentucky. The program was a member of the NCAA Division I American Athletic Conference for the 2014 season and joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in July 2014. The Cardinals have played at Jim Patterson Stadium since the venue opened during the 2005 season. Dan McDonnell has been the program's head coach since the start of the 2007 season. As of the end of the 2017 season, the program has appeared in 13 NCAA tournaments and five College World Series. In conference postseason play, it has won two Big East Conference baseball tournaments. In regular season play, it has won two Metro Conference titles, four Big East Conference titles, one American Athletic Conference title, and four Atlantic Coast Conference titles. Louisville also set the ACC record for most conference wins in a season with 25 during the 2015 season.

The Louisville Cardinals men's soccer team represents the University of Louisville in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. The team presently competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team currently plays in the soccer-specific Lynn Stadium on the campus.

The 2012–13 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team represented the University of Louisville during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, Louisville's 99th season of intercollegiate competition. The Cardinals competed in the Big East Conference and were coached by Rick Pitino in his 12th season as head coach at Louisville. The team played its home games on Denny Crum Court at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals finished the season 35–5, 14–4 in Big East play to earn a share of the Big East regular season championship.

Dan McDonnell is an American college baseball coach who has been the head coach of the Louisville Cardinals since the start of the 2007 season. As of the end of the 2017 season, Louisville has a 646-266 in 15 seasons record under McDonnell and has appeared in five College World Series, 7 super regionals, and 10 NCAA tournaments. Under McDonnell, the Cardinals have won two Big East tournaments and four Big East regular season titles. McDonnell was one game away in 2015 from leading his Louisville Cardinals to three straight College World Series appearances. The College World Series is the final eight teams in the NCAA tournament, and it is played in Omaha, Nebraska. McDonnell, in his team's first three years in the Atlantic Coast Conference, has led his team to 3 division titles and 2 conference titles.

They were led by head coach Bobby Petrino until he was fired on November 11 after starting the season 2–8. Lorenzo Ward was the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. They finished the season 2–10, 0–8 in ACC play to finish in last place in the Atlantic Division.

The 2019 Louisville Cardinals men's soccer team represented University of Louisville during the 2019 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Cardinals were led by head coach John Michael Hayden, in his first season. They played home games at Lynn Stadium. This was the team's 41st season playing organized men's college soccer and their 6th playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Cardinals were led by head coach John Michael Hayden, in his third season. They played their home games at Lynn Stadium. This was the team's 43rd season playing organized men's college soccer and their 8th playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The 2022 Stanford Cardinal baseball team represented Stanford University in the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Cardinal played their home games at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond under fifth year coach David Esquer.
