The 2017 South American Youth Games , also known as the II South American Youth Games, were a multi-sport event celebrated in Santiago, Chile. [1] All 14 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the ODESUR were expected to compete.

The election of the host for the South American Youth Games of 2017 was announced during the General Assembly of ODESUR between the 23 and 27 of March 2015. [2]

We want this event to take place in Asunción, now we'll start the fight.

All 15 nations of the Organización Deportiva Suramericana (ODESUR) are expected to compete in these Youth Games.

The 4th South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Medellín, Colombia, at the Estadio Alfonso Galvis Duque at the Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot on March 20–23, 2010. The championships, organized by CONSUDATLE, were held as a part of the South American Games. A detailed report on the results was given. The most prominent result was achieved in the heat of the women's 100 metres by Ana Cláudia Lemos Silva. Her time of 11.17 equaled the South American and Brazilian record, and set a new championships and games record.
