The 2017 Texas State Bobcats baseball team represented the Texas State University in the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bobcats played their home games at Bobcat Ballpark.
Texas State announced its 2017 baseball schedule on October 26, 2016. The 2017 schedule consisted of 33 home and 23 away games in the regular season. The Bobcats hosted Sun Belts foes Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Louisiana–Monroe, and Texas–Arlington and will travel to Appalachian State, Little Rock, Louisiana, South Alabama, and Troy. The 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship was contested May 24–28 in Statesboro, Georgia, and was hosted by Georgia Southern. [2]
Texas State finished 4th in the west division of the conference which qualified the Bobcats to compete in the tournament as the 8th seed to seek for the team's 1st Sun Belt Conference tournament title.

The Sun Belt Conference (SBC) is a collegiate athletic conference that has been affiliated with the NCAA's Division I since 1976. Originally a non-football conference, the Sun Belt began sponsoring football in 2001. Its football teams participate in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The 14 member institutions of the Sun Belt are distributed across the Southern United States.
The 2015 Texas State Bobcats football team represented Texas State University in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by Dennis Franchione in the fifth year of his second stint as head coach, 7th overall, and played their home games at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, Texas. The Bobcats were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 3–9, 2–6 in Sun Belt play to finish in tenth place.
The 2016 Georgia Southern Eagles football team represented Georgia Southern University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Eagles played their home games at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, and competed in the Sun Belt Conference. They were led by first-year head coach Tyson Summers. They finished the season 5–7, 4–4 in Sun Belt play to finish in sixth place.

The 2017 Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns baseball team represents the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Ragin' Cajuns play their home games at M. L. Tigue Moore Field at Russo Park and were led by twenty-third year head coach Tony Robichaux.
The 2017 Arkansas State Red Wolves baseball team represented the Arkansas State University during the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Red Wolves played their home games at Tomlinson Stadium–Kell Field.
The 2017 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball team represented Coastal Carolina University in the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Chanticleers played their home games at Springs Brooks Stadium. This was the first season of competition in the Sun Belt after transitioning from the Big South. While the Chanticleers were successful in their inaugural Sun Belt season, winning a regular season title, they failed to return to the NCAA tournament after winning the College World Series the previous season.

The 2021 Georgia Southern Eagles football team represented Georgia Southern University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Eagles played their home games at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, and competed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference. They were led by third-year head coach Chad Lunsford until he was dismissed mid-season following his third consecutive loss within the first four games of the season. Cornerbacks coach Kevin Whitley was tapped to serve as interim coach until a new head coach was hired by the university. Whitley was in his third year as cornerbacks coach and previously played for Georgia Southern as a four year starter from 1988 to 1991, helping to win two national titles for the Eagles. On November 2, 2021, Clay Helton, former head coach of the USC Trojans, was hired to become the next head coach for Georgia Southern, starting in the 2022 season.
