Ty Lee Harrington (born July 16, 1964) is an American former baseball player and coach. He served as the head baseball coach at Texas State University from 2000 through the 2019 season. Under Harrington, the Texas State Bobcats to three NCAA tournament appearances, two Southland Conference baseball tournament championships, and three Southland Conference baseball regular season championships. Harrington is the most victorious coach in program history. [1] [2]
Ty Lee Harrington was born in Pasadena, Texas, where his parents Lee Pickens Harrington and Elaine Cezeaux Harrington were teachers in the local school district. [3] The family later moved to Waco, Texas, when Lee became an assistant coach at Baylor. [4] [5] Ty Harrington graduated from Midway High School in Waco in 1983. [6]
Harrington attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he lettered with Texas Longhorns baseball in 1986 and 1987 as an infielder under head coach Cliff Gustafson. Harrington was a team captain as a senior on the 1987 team that made the College World Series. [7] [1]
From 1988 to 1991, Harrington was a student assistant and later graduate assistant coach at Texas. [1] From 1992 to 1994, Harrington was an assistant coach at Arkansas State. During his tenure, the team established many school records, and the 1994 team won the Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament and appeared in the NCAA tournament. [1]
He then served as head coach at a pair of Texas junior colleges, the first of which was Northeast Texas Community College from 1995 to 1998, where he claimed the 1996 NJCAA championship and Coach of the Year awards. Harrington went 128–53 at Northeast Texas. [8] Harrington then coached at Blinn College in 1999, going 36–22 in his lone season. [1] [9]
On December 9, 1999, Harrington became head coach at Texas State (then Southwest Texas State) University. [9] Harrington was hired after previous head coach Howard Bushong resigned to coach with the San Diego Padres organization. [9]
In his debut season in 2000, Harrington went 34–29 with an NCAA tournament appearance at Southwest Texas State. [10] [1] Harrington would go on six straight winning seasons through 2005. [10] On April 27, 2005, Texas State upset no. 1 Texas 2–1 in 10 innings at Disch–Falk Field, Texas's home field. [11] Having been a member of the Southland Conference until the 2012 season, Texas State changed conferences twice, first to the Western Athletic Conference in 2013 then the Sun Belt Conference from 2014 on.
On April 23, 2011, he claimed his 400th career win over Northwestern State. During the 2012 season, Harrington led the team to their highest ever national ranking, at number 20 in the Baseball America poll on March 12. [12] [13] He has also developed three All-Americans, and numerous conference players of the year.
On June 20, 2019, Harrington retired from coaching baseball. [14] [15] In 20 seasons as Texas State head coach from 2000 to 2019, Harrington accumulated a 657–516–2 record. [1] [10] Under Harrington, Texas State appeared in three NCAA tournaments in 2000, 2009, and 2011 and won four conference titles, with three straight Southland regular season titles from 2009 to 2011 and the Sun Belt West Division title in 2019. [1] [16] Harrington was the Southland Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011 and Sun Belt Coach of the Year in 2019. [1] [15]
After retiring from baseball coaching, Harrington joined the investor relations team at San Antonio-based real estate development firm Casey Development. [17]
Harrington is married to Leila Baggett and has two children with her. [1] He also has a child from his previous marriage to Lori Groves. [8]

North Texas Mean Green represents the University of North Texas (UNT) in intercollegiate athletics. The teams compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). North Texas competed in the Sun Belt Conference and Conference USA before joining the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2023. UNT's official school colors are Green and White. Daniel Joseph Kaspar is an American college basketball coach. Kaspar served as men's basketball head coach at the University of the Incarnate Word, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Texas State University. He has also been an assistant coach at Lamar, Midwestern State and Baylor.
The Texas State Bobcats are the sports teams that represent Texas State University. Currently, they compete in the Sun Belt Conference in NCAA Division I. The Bobcat has been the mascot of Texas State University since 1921, when the university adopted the name from the recommendation of a committee formed to raise school spirit. Though considerably smaller than mountain lions, bobcats are known for their stubborn fierceness and great courage. The football squad used the bobcat for the first time in 1921 and went undefeated with a 7–0 season. Texas State had several officially recognized live bobcat mascots until the 1970s. In 1964, the Texas State Bobcat was given the official name of "Boko" by Beth Greenlees, a sophomore from Luling, Texas, who beat out about 100 other students in a "Name the Bobcat" contest. Her winning submission earned her a $5 prize and the honor of being the person who named the Texas State mascot. Boko has twice been named “USA National Champion” mascot. Texas State had no official fight song until 1961, when Paul Yoder was commissioned to compose "Go Bobcats." The song is the rousing "call to arms" for all Texas State athletic games and competition.
The Lamar Cardinals and Lady Cardinals refers to the college athletics teams of Lamar University, in Beaumont, Texas. The Cardinals and Lady Cardinals teams compete in seventeen NCAA Division I sports as a member of the Southland Conference. The Cardinals rejoined the Southland after spending the 2021–22 athletic year in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
The UTSA Roadrunners is a collegiate athletic program that represents the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The UTSA Roadrunners are also commonly referred to as "UTSA", "Roadrunners", or "Runners", and are represented by the mascot Rowdy. The origin of Rowdy dates back to 1977, when the Roadrunner was chosen as the university's mascot by student election.

The Texas State Bobcats football program Texas State University in college football at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level. They play in the Sun Belt Conference. The program began in 1904 and has an overall winning record. The program has a total of 14 conference titles, nine of them being outright conference titles. Home games are played at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, Texas.

Bobcat Ballpark is a baseball venue in San Marcos, Texas, on the campus of Texas State University. It is home of the Texas State Bobcats baseball team of the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference. It currently holds 2,500 spectators. In 2008, the baseball and softball stadiums were renovated and expanded to its current design. In addition, four luxury suites for up to 12 people were added. The renovations made their debut on March 5, 2009, against the Texas Longhorns with a record setting 2,593 people.
The Lamar Cardinals baseball team represents Lamar University and competes in the Southland Conference of the NCAA's Division I after officially rejoining the conference on July 11, 2022. The team is coached by head coach, Will Davis following Jim Gilligan's retirement at the end of the 2016 season. Except for five seasons (1987–1991), the Cardinals baseball team had been coached by Jim Gilligan since 1973. With over 1000 career wins as a head coach, Gilligan was one of the most winning coaches in NCAA history.
Howard Bushong is a former baseball coach at the high school, college, and minor league levels. He has moved between the college and professional levels several times, most recently coaching the Connecticut Tigers of the Class A New York–Penn League. He previously coached at Texas State as both a head coach and an assistant, as well as the rookie league GCL Tigers and AZL Padres.
