The 2017–18 California Golden Bears men's basketball team represented the University of California, Berkeley in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was Wyking Jones first year as head coach at California. The Golden Bears played their home games at Haas Pavilion as members of the Pac-12 Conference. They finished the season 8–24, 2–16 in Pac-12 play to finish in last place. They lost in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament to Stanford.

Previous season

The Golden Bears finished the season 21–13, 10–8 in the conference. During the season, they were invited and participated in the Pearl Harbor Basketball Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii. California defeated Princeton but lost to Seton Hall to earn 2nd place. In the postseason, the Golden Bears defeated Oregon State and Utah in Pac-12 tournament in Paradise, Nevada to advance to the semifinals where they lost to Oregon. California was invited and participated in the 2017 National Invitation Tournament where they lost in the first round to Cal State Bakersfield; the Golden Bears hosted the match against the Roadrunners.

Benjamin Abraham Braun is an American former men's college basketball coach and college basketball analyst. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Siena Heights University (1977–1985), Eastern Michigan University (1986–1996), the University of California, Berkeley (1996–2008), and Rice University (2008–2014), compiling a career coaching record of 615–517. He won the most games (185) of any head coach in the history of the Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball program and was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year three times. As the head coach of the California Golden Bears, he won the Pac-10 Coach of the Year and had a 219–154 record (.587). Braun currently is a studio and game basketball analyst for the Pac-12 Network.

The 2010 Pacific Life Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball tournament was played with the first round on March 10, 2010 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, with quarterfinals on March 11, semifinals on March 12, and the finals on March 13. Washington, the tournament champion, became the NCAA tournament automatic qualifier from the conference.

The Golden Bears will be led by sixth-year head coach Charmin Smith and will play their home games at Haas Pavilion. They will compete as first year members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Grant Anticevich is an Australian professional basketball player for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He played five years of college basketball for the California Golden Bears before debuting in the NBL for the South East Melbourne Phoenix in 2022.
