The 2017–18 Saint Mary's Gaels women's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Gales, led by twelfth year head coach Paul Thomas, played their home games at the McKeon Pavilion and were members of the West Coast Conference. [1] [2] [3] They finished the season 20–11, 13–5 in WCC play to finish in second place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WCC women's tournament to Pacific. They received an automatic bid to the Women's National Invitation Tournament, where they lost to New Mexico in the first round.
They finished the season 20–13, 13–5 in WCC play to finish in a tie for second place. They advanced to the championship game of the WCC women's tournament where they lost to Gonzaga. They received an at-large bid to the WNIT where they lost to Colorado State in the first round.

Kelly Lee Graves is the current head women's basketball coach at the University of Oregon. Previously, Graves was the head women's basketball coach at St. Mary's from 1997 to 2000, as well as Gonzaga University from 2000 to 2014. He was formerly an assistant coach for the Portland Pilots (1994–1997) and St. Mary Gaels, where he later got his first head coaching stint with the Gaels from 1997 to 2000. From the 2004–2005 season to the 2013–2014 season, he guided Gonzaga to ten consecutive West Coast Conference regular season titles. The 2007 team went 13–1 in conference play, and later won the WCC conference tournament. The school also received its first ever NCAA tournament appearance. He was named WCC co-coach of the year for his accomplishments. In 2005, 2010, and 2011, Gonzaga went undefeated in WCC regular season play.

This was head coach Randy Bennett's 16th season at Saint Mary's. The Gaels competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at the McKeon Pavilion in Moraga, California. They finished the season 29–5, 16–2 in WCC play to finish in second place. In the WCC tournament, they defeated Portland and BYU before losing to Gonzaga in the championship game. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. As the No. 7 seed in the West region, they beat VCU in the first round before losing to No. 2-seeded Arizona in the second round.

They finished the season 30–6, 16–2 in West Coast Conference play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the WCC tournament, they defeated Pepperdine in the quarterfinals before losing to BYU in the semifinals. They were one of the last four teams not selected for the NCAA tournament and as a result earned a No. 1 seed in the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Southeastern Louisiana in the first round and Washington in the second round before losing to Utah in the quarterfinals.
The 2017–18 Gonzaga Bulldogs women's basketball team represented Gonzaga University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bulldogs, were members of the West Coast Conference. The Bulldogs, led by fourth year head coach Lisa Fortier, played their home games at the McCarthey Athletic Center on the university campus in Spokane, Washington. They finished the season 27–6, 17–1 in WCC play to win the WCC regular season. They defeatee Pepperdine, San Francisco and San Diego to become champions of the WCC women's basketball tournament to earn an automatic trip to the NCAA women's tournament where they lost in the first round to Stanford.
The 2017–18 Loyola Marymount Lions women's basketball team represented Loyola Marymount University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Lions, led by sixth year head coach Charity Elliott, played their homes games at the Gersten Pavilion and were members of the West Coast Conference. They finished the season 19–11, 11–7 in WCC play to finish in a tie for third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WCC women's tournament to San Francisco. Despite having 19 wins, they were not invited to a postseason tournament.
The 2017–18 Pepperdine Waves women's basketball team represented Pepperdine University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Waves, as members of the West Coast Conference, were led by first year head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones. The Waves played their home games at the Firestone Fieldhouse on the university campus in Malibu, California. They finished the season 10–20, 5–13 in WCC play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the WCC women's tournament, where they lost to Gonzaga.
The 2017–18 Santa Clara Broncos women's basketball team represents Santa Clara University in the 2017–18 college basketball season. The Broncos are led by second year head coach Bill Carr. The Broncos are members of the West Coast Conference and play their home games at the Leavey Center. They finished the season 9–21, 5–13 in WCC play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the WCC women's tournament to Pepperdine.

Therefore, they received a automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and they lost in the first round to Villanova.

They defeated Pepperdine and BYU to advance to the championship game of the WCC tournament where they lost to Gonzaga. Despite being a virtual lock to receive an at-large bid to NCAA tournament, all postseason play was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

They finished the season 26–8, 15–1 in WCC play to win the regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed in the WCC tournament, they defeated Santa Clara in the semifinals and beat Gonzaga in the championship to win the WCC tournament. Therefore, they received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where as the No. 5 seed in the West region, they were upset in the first round by Grand Canyon.
