The 2018 IFA Shield was the 122nd edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament was designed as a U19 youth football tournament since 2015. 8 clubs participated in final round in the edition.

Venue

All the matches were held at Barasat Stadium, East Bengal Ground, Mohun Bagan Ground and Howrah Stadium.

Qualifying round

14 teams participated in the qualifying round and Bengal Football Academy as the winners of qualifiers. FC Pune City later withdrew from the tournament and were replaced by runners-up of qualifying round, SAIL (Burnpur) Academy. [1] [2]

Mohun Bagan Athletic Club, simply known as Mohun Bagan, is a professional sports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1889 primarily as a football centred club, it is one of the oldest clubs in Asia. The football division, currently named Mohun Bagan Super Giant due to ownership reasons, competes in the Indian Super League, the top flight of Indian club football. The club is most notable for its victory over the East Yorkshire Regiment in the 1911 IFA Shield final. This victory made Mohun Bagan the first all-Indian club to win a championship over a British club and was a major moment during India's push for independence.

The IFA Shield is an annual football competition organized by the Indian Football Association, the football governing body in the Indian state of West Bengal. The IFA came into existence in 1893, and named after the association, the IFA Shield tournament was started in the same year. It is the third oldest football tournament in India, after Durand Cup and Trades Cup, and the one of the oldest football competitions in the world.

The 2009 IFA Shield was an association football tournament organised by the Indian Football Association. Most of the teams came from the I-League 1 & 2, with AS Douanes (Dakar) invited from Senegal and Tata Football Academy qualifying by winning the Prodyut Dutta Memorial Trophy. The Shield was won by Churchill Brothers SC.

The 2011 IFA shield was held in Kolkata starting from 11 March, with a total of 10 teams including a Chinese super league team participating. Teams were divided into 2 groups and played each other with the top 2 advancing to the semifinals. This was the 115th edition of the tournament.

George Telegraph Sports Club is an Indian multisports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, that competes in the Calcutta Football League, the top tier state football league in West Bengal. The club plays all their home matches at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium. They have also competed in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of Indian football league system.

The 2013 IFA Shield was the 117th edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament this season was held from 4 March 2013 in West Bengal. This year also, the Indian Football Association announced that two foreign clubs would participate in the tournament, Costa Rican Primera División club Deportivo Saprissa and Bangladesh Premier League club Muktijoddha Sangsad. However on 4 March 2013 it was announced that Muktijoddha Sangsad would not participate in this tournament and instead current I-League club ONGC would take their place.

The 2014 IFA Shield was the 118th edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament was held from 29 January to 11 February 2014 in Kolkata. That year, the Indian Football Association announced that three foreign clubs to participate in the tournament, S.League club Geylang International FC, South Korean Sun Moon University and Bangladesh Premier League club Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.

The 2015–16 Indian Federation Cup, also known as 2015–16 Hero Federation Cup due to sponsorship reasons was the 37th edition of the Federation Cup, the main national football cup competition in India. The tournament was held from 30 April 2016 to 21 May 2016. Top 8 teams from 2015–16 I-League participated in the tournament. Ten Sports Network, the Official Broadcaster of Hero Federation Cup 2016 will telecast only the Semi-finals and the Final match while Knockout stage matches will be streamed live on I-league website.

The 2016 IFA Shield was the 120th edition of the IFA Shield. The tournament is designed as a U19 youth football tournament since 2015.

The 2016–17 I-League U18 was the ninth season of the Indian I-League U18 and the second season of the competition as an under-18 one. The season began on 15 November with 35 teams divided into eight groups across India. The top 12 teams played in the final group stage in which they were divided into three groups of four and the top team from each group, along with the top second place team, went into the semi-finals, followed by the final. AIFF Elite Academy won the title by defeating East Bengal F.C. in the final.

The 1998 Indian Federation Cup, also known as 1998 Kalyani Black Label Federation Cup due to sponsorship reasons, was the 21st season of the Indian Federation Cup. It was held between 23 August and 12 September 1998. Salgaocar were the defending champions, but were eliminated in the first round by State Bank of Travancore. Mohun Bagan won the tournament for the tenth time, following a 2–1 over East Bengal in the final played at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata, a replay of the previous edition's semifinal when the latter won. Amit Das and Hemanta Dora of Mohun Bagan were named the Player and Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

FC Pune City beat Mohun Bagan A.C. in final by 3–0 on 11 June 2017 to clinch their first IFA Shield title.

Rainbow Athletic Club is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, that competes in the Calcutta Premier Division. In 2018, they competed in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of Indian football league system.

The 2019 Durand Cup was the 129th edition of the Durand Cup, oldest football tournament in Asia, since the tournament's founding in 1888. 16 teams competed in the tournament. The matches were played across three locations in West Bengal, namely Kolkata, Howrah and Kalyani from 2 August 2019. The final took place at the Salt Lake Stadium on 24 August 2019.

Mohun Bagan AC youth teams are the age group football teams of Indian professional multi-sports club Mohun Bagan, under its footballing section called Mohun Bagan SG. The U-21 and the reserve teams are generally referred to as last stage of progression for promotion of academy players into the first squad. The reserve team formed off the various youth team players participate in the Calcutta Football League, the Reliance Foundation Development League and the AIFF Elite League, also being eligible for the I-League 2. The concept for an youth team was conceived and materialised under the leadership of Balai Das Chattopadhyay in 1944.

East Bengal Club Reserves and Academy is the overall name for the structure besides the senior team of East Bengal FC. Reserves generally consist of younger players, but at times senior players also play, if recuperating from injury or not getting first team game time. Apart from the I-League 2 (formerly), the reserve side usually plays in the Calcutta Football League.

The 2020 IFA Shield is the 123rd edition of the IFA Shield. It will have four I-League teams and eight Calcutta Premier Division teams. No overseas teams were invited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Real Kashmir beat George Telegraph in the final to win their first IFA Shield title.

The 2010 I-League U19 was the second edition of the I-League U19.

The 2021 IFA Shield was the 124th edition of the IFA Shield. It had 1 Indian Super League team, 5 I-League teams and 10 Calcutta Premier Division teams. Real Kashmir defended their title defeating Sreenidi Deccan in the final.
