The 2018 William Jones Cup was the 40th staging of William Jones Cup, an international basketball tournament held in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
The men's tournament was held from 14–22 July 2018 with 11 teams participating. [1] The women's tournament was held from 25–29 July 2018 and was contested by six teams. [2] Both tournaments were held at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City and followed a single round robin format. [1] [2]

Cheng Chih-lung is a Taiwanese basketball coach and retired basketball player, as well as a former politician as a member of the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China.
The R. William Jones Cup, also known as the Jones Cup, is an international basketball tournament organized by the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA) held annually since 1977 in Taiwan.
The "Damien Knabben Cup" Futsal Invitational Tournament in Taipei, or simply Damien Knabben Cup, is an invitational futsal tournament held by Taipei Futsal Association. It started from 2006, under the name Taipei International Invitational Futsal Tournament. In 2007, it was renamed to Damien Knabben Cup in remembrance of Damien Knabben, late manager of Chinese Taipei national futsal team who died on April 2, 2006.
Japeth Paul Cabrera Aguilar is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He first played collegiate basketball for the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), but after two seasons, he moved to the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers in the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in the United States.

Xu Deshuai is a Chinese-born Hong Kong professional footballer who is currently a free agent. He was born in Dalian, China but represents Hong Kong in international competition. He was a member of the Hong Kong East Asian Games football team in 2009 who won the East Asian Games gold medal.

Quincy Spencer Davis III is an American-born Taiwanese basketball player. A former United States citizen, he renounced that citizenship in June 2013 to naturalize in Taiwan so that he could play for the Chinese Taipei men's national basketball team in international competition. 2014 FIBA Asia Cup was the 5th FIBA Asia Cup, a top-level international basketball tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament was held in Wuhan, Hubei, China from 11–19 July 2014. Iran won the tournament by defeating Chinese Taipei 89–79 in the final and thus automatically qualified for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship to be held in China.
Joseph Hsu King-shing also transliterated as Hsu King-Seng was a Chinese professional footballer and football manager. Born in Shanghai, Hsu moved to Hong Kong to continue his professional career and never returned to the mainland China to play nor coach. He coached both Hong Kong and Republic of China (Taiwan), as well as managed Singtao for more than a decade.
Dato Aw Cheng ChyeS.P.M.J., B.B.M., O.St.J was a Singaporean millionaire and son of the late Aw Boon Par. Aw Cheng Chye himself was the chairman of Haw Par Brothers (Private) Limited and Haw Par Brothers International Limited until his sudden death on 22 August 1971 in Santiago de Chile.
Chinese Taipei competed at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18 August to 2 September 2018. At the last Games in Incheon, the country bagged a total 51 medals, including 10 gold, 18 silver, and 23 bronze. Carlos Leonel Gois Fernandes, commonly known as Carlos Leonel, is a football player for Benfica de Macau and Macau national football team. He was the top scorer in the 2016 and 2017 Liga de Elite. He also helped Benfica de Macau win the Liga de Elite from 2015 to 2018.
