The 2018 World Draughts Championship match in international draughts was held from December 28, 2018, to January 13, 2019, in the Netherlands. [1] It was held under the auspices of the International Draughts Federation (FMJD) and played between the current 2017 world champion Alexander Schwartzman and 2016 world champion Roel Boomstra. [1] Roel Boomstra won this match and became World Draughts Champion. [2] [3]
The event was played over 12 games with a time control of 80 minutes plus 1 minute per move. The player who has the highest score wins the world title if he wins at least three games. If not, a tie-break will be played. Every victory in a tie-break adds to the total number of victories.
Per regulations, a preliminary tie-breaking games were to be played if the first six games ended in a draw. [4]

International draughts is a strategy board game for two players, one of the variants of draughts. The gameboard comprises 10×10 squares in alternating dark and light colours, of which only the 50 dark squares are used. Each player has 20 pieces, light for one player and dark for the other, at opposite sides of the board. In conventional diagrams, the board is displayed with the light pieces at the bottom; in this orientation, the lower-left corner square must be dark.

The 2016 Women's World Draughts Championship match at the international draughts was held 2–9 September 2016 in Karpacz (Poland) International Draughts Federation FMJD between ranked second at the 2015 Women's World Draughts Championship Natalia Sadowska (Poland) and ranked third at the same Women's World Draughts Championship Olga Kamyshleeva (Netherlands). The current world champion Zoja Golubeva (Latvia) had informed FMJD that she was not willing to defend her title. Natalia Sadowska won and became 9th women's world draughts champion.
The 2015 Women's World Draughts Championship match at the international draughts was held April 1–8, 2015 in Zerendi, Kazakhstan International Draughts Federation FMJD between the actual World Champion Zoja Golubeva (Latvia) and the challenger Tamara Tansykkuzhina (Russia). Zoya Golubeva won with a score of 8 : 4 and became the world champion for the fifteenth time.

Roel Boomstra is a Dutch draughts player and a former world champion. He won the Draughts World Championship match in 2016 and 2018. In 2014 Boomstra won the Draughts European Championship. He also won the Dutch championship twice. Boomstra holds the title of International Grandmaster. He was born in Utrecht.

The 2016 World Draughts Championship match at the international draughts was hold on December 3–18 in the Netherlands under auspice International Draughts Federation FMJD. The match was scheduled to take place between Jan Groenendijk and Roel Boomstra, who were second and third at last Draughts Championship. World Champion Alexander Georgiev (Russia) has informed FMJD that he will not defend his title. FMJD decided that the next player in the classifications of last WC, Roel Boomstra, should play the Match for World Title against the Vice Champion, Jan Groenendijk.

Three round played in hotel Europe, other – at Paul Keres Chess House. It played as a round-robin, with 15 rounds in total. The winning prize for the tournament is 20,000 euros. At the same time the 2017 World Draughts Championship was held.

Prize money 17 000€. If score will be 54:54 both players will receive equally.

Prize money 20 000€.
The 2021 World Draughts Championship at the international draughts took place from June 28 to July 14, 2021 in Tallinn, Estonia under the auspices International Draughts Federation (FMJD). Forty players competd in the tournament, which was played in a COVID bubble at Hotel Viru. In the semi-final all players were divided into four groups. The best three players from each semi-final group go to the final. The championship was played in a round-robin system. The main referee was IR Frank Teer (Netherlands). The winning prize for the tournament was 20,000 euros.
