The Ferrari Challenge is a single-marque motorsport category that was created in 1993, initially catering to owners of the 348 Berlinetta who wanted to race their cars. The first European season took place in 1993, with a North American series added in 1994. It now encompasses five official championships in the North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, UK, and Japan. Competitors from each series are brought together at the annual World Finals event. From 2007-10, the Ferrari Challenge exclusively used the Ferrari F430 model. 2011 saw the introduction of the 458 Challenge with the 458 Challenge Evoluzione following in 2014. In 2017 Ferrari introduced the 488 Challenge.
Lawson L. Aschenbach is an American professional racing driver. He is a four-time Pirelli World Challenge champion, and most recently, the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge GTS Champion. He is the 2006 SPEED World Challenge Rookie of the Year and became the first person to win the SPEED GT Championship in his rookie season. He is also the champion of the 2010 Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge ST Championship and 2014 Lamborghini Super Trofeo ProAM World Champion. Aschenbach first raced professionally in 2005. He currently races for Stevenson Motorsports in the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
Scuderia Corsa is an American automotive racing team with teams competing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and Ferrari Challenge in North America. Founded in 2012 by Giacomo Mattioli and Art Zafiropoulo, the team has the main purpose of supporting the racing needs of Ferrari clients, starting from customizable track-day events to the Ferrari Challenge Series to the most prestigious GT endurance racing such as the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Scuderia Corsa is the racing arm of Mattioli Automotive Group, inclusive of Ferrari Beverly Hills, Ferrari Silicon Valley, Ferrari South Bay and Ferrari Westlake.

The 2017 Finali Mondiali was the 2017 edition of the season-ending event for all Ferrari Challenge championships. Held at the Mugello Circuit in Italy as part of the biennial event contracting, the event saw drivers from the Asia-Pacific, European and North American championships take part.
