Jasmine Paolini is an Italian professional tennis player. She has career-high WTA rankings of world No. 24 in singles and No. 114 in doubles. Paolini has won one singles title at the 2021 Slovenian Open and three doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She has also won two singles titles on the WTA Challenger Tour along with eight singles titles and one doubles title on the ITF Circuit. She is the current Italian No. 1 player.

It was the 28th edition of the tournament which was part of the 2020 WTA Tour. It took place in Palermo, Italy between 3 and 9 August 2020. This was the first tournament of the 2020 WTA Tour after the suspension due to COVID-19 pandemic. This restrictions have eased to reduce a number of spectators to 350, and limited of photographers and journalists.
The 2020 J&T Banka Ostrava Open is a WTA tournament organised for female professional tennis players, held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in mid-October 2020 on indoor hard courts. It was primarily organised due to the cancellation of many tournaments during the 2020 season, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament attracted four top-20 players, including two-time grand slam champion and former world no. 1 Victoria Azarenka.

The 2021 Yarra Valley Classic was a tournament on the 2021 WTA Tour, one of six events in the 2021 Melbourne Summer Series. It was played on outdoor hard courts in Melbourne, Australia. It was organised as a lead-up tournament to the 2021 Australian Open, and was held at the same venue, due to other tournaments in Australia being cancelled as a result from the COVID-19 pandemic. This tournament took place simultaneously with the 2021 Gippsland Trophy and the 2021 Grampians Trophy. Players who had originally intended to participate in this tournament or the Gippsland Trophy, but were forced to undergo strict quarantine measures upon arrival in Australia, were able to participate in the 2021 Grampians Trophy. The entry list of 2021 Australian Open was used to determine the entry list of this tournament; with half the players playing the Yarra Valley Classic, and the other half playing the 2021 Gippsland Trophy.
Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka defeated Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková in the final, 6–2, 6–3, to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2021 Australian Open. It was their second major doubles title as a team, after the 2019 US Open. With the win, Sabalenka claimed the world No. 1 doubles ranking.

Iga Świątek defeated Karolína Plíšková in the final, 6–0, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Italian Open. It was her first WTA 1000 singles title, and the 13 points Świątek lost in the championship match is the fewest on record in a WTA 1000-level final. This was the first WTA Tour singles final to be resolved with a 'double bagel' scoreline since Simona Halep defeated Anastasija Sevastova at the 2016 Bucharest Open, and was just the tenth such final in WTA Tour history. With the win, Świątek broke into the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time. Both finalists saved match points in prior rounds – Świątek saved two match points in her third round match against Barbora Krejčíková, whilst Plíšková saved three match points in her quarterfinal match against Jeļena Ostapenko.
The 2021 Indian Wells Open was a professional men's and women's tennis tournament played in Indian Wells, California. After the event was cancelled the preceding year amid the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was initially scheduled to take place on March 10–21, 2021, but was postponed to October 6–17, 2021 to accommodate logistics disruptions owing to the pandemic.

Ashleigh Barty defeated Danielle Collins in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–2) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Australian Open. It was her third major singles title. Barty became the first home player to win an Australian Open singles title since Chris O'Neil in 1978. Barty did not drop a set during the tournament. The final also marked Barty's last professional appearance, as she announced her retirement from the sport two months later.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elena Rybakina in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Australian Open. It was her first major singles title. Sabalenka dropped just one set during the tournament, to Rybakina in the championship match. Rybakina became the first Kazakhstani player to progress past the fourth round, and the first player since Jennifer Capriati in 2001 to defeat three consecutive major champions in a single edition of the Australian Open. By reaching the final, Rybakina made her debut in the top ten of the WTA rankings making her the first player representing Kazakhstan, male or female, ever to reach this milestone.
Caroline Garcia defeated Petra Kvitová in the final, 6–2, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Cincinnati Masters. It was her third WTA 1000 title, and her first since 2017. Garcia was the first qualifier to reach and to win the final of a WTA 1000 event.

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Iga Świątek in the final, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Madrid Open. It was her fifth WTA 1000 title. This marked the first time since 2013 that the top two seeds contested the Madrid Open final. It was also the first time since 2000 that the top two players on the WTA Tour contested back-to-back finals, after Świątek won in Stuttgart the week prior.
Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final, 3–6, 6–4, 6–4 to win the singles title at the 2023 Tennis in the Land. She won the title as a lucky loser, becoming just the sixth player in WTA Tour history to do so and the third within a five-week span.
