The 2021 Chicago Fall Tennis Classic was a WTA tournament organised for female professional tennis players on outdoor hard courts due to the cancellation of the Asian tournaments because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It was the 1st edition of the event and took place at XS Tennis and Education Foundation in Chicago, United States from 27 September to 3 October 2021. [1]

In 2022, the WTA calendar was still being affected by the cancellation of women's professional tennis tournaments in China and Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and concerns about the security and well-being of tennis player Peng Shuai after her allegations of sexual assault against Chinese Communist Party leader Zhang Gaoli. As a result, a WTA 1000 tournament was announced to be held in Guadalajara to compensate for it. This was one of the biggest women's tournaments ever hosted by Mexico, held on outdoor hard courts in October 2022.

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula defeated Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend in the final, 7–6(8–6), 6–2 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2023 Miami Open. This marked the first all-North American final in the history of the event.

Marta Kostyuk and Barbora Krejčíková defeated Storm Hunter and Alycia Parks in the final, 6–2, 7–6(9–7) to win the doubles tennis title at the 2023 Birmingham Classic.
