Elena-Gabriela Ruse won her maiden WTA Tour singles title as a qualifier, defeating Andrea Petkovic in the final, 7–6(8–6), 6–4.

This tournament marked Dayana Yastremska's return to professional tennis, after her suspension for testing positive for a prohibited substance was lifted by the ITF.

Paula Badosa defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 7–6(7–5), 2–6, 7–6(7–2), to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters. At three hours and four minutes, the final was the longest women's final contested at Indian Wells. By winning the title, Badosa became the first Spanish woman to win the tournament. This was her first WTA 1000 title and her second career WTA singles title overall. Azarenka was aiming to become the first woman to win the title at Indian Wells three times.

This was the first edition of the tournament.

Madison Keys defeated Alison Riske in the final, 6–1, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Adelaide International 2.

Jeļena Ostapenko defeated Veronika Kudermetova in the final, 6–0, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships. She saved a match point en route to the title, in the quarterfinals against Petra Kvitová.
