The 2021 European Championship B was an international rugby league tournament that took place in October 2021, originally scheduled to take place in October 2020. [1] [2] The tournament was postponed in July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [3] A revised schedule was announced in April 2021, [4] and the tournament details were confirmed in August 2021. [5]

Background

Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine played each other once in a round robin format. Ukraine entered the tournament after the 2020 European Championship C was cancelled. [4] Greece withdrew as their domestic competition was yet to restart. [5] [6] The winner of the tournament will be promoted to 2022 European Championship. [7]

John Risman, who is a lifetime honorary president of Serbian Rugby League presented the trophy and medals to the winner of the tournament. [8] The tournament was won by Serbia, with Ukraine finishing runner-up and Russia third.

These matches took place between 16 June and 15 September 2018, with the final match taking place on 18 May 2019, where Greece defeat Norway to progress to the next round of European repechage qualifying against Scotland and Serbia.

The 2018 Rugby League European Championship B was ninth edition of the Rugby League European Championship B and acted as the second phase of European qualifying to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The series involved three teams in pool play and took place in October 2018. The two highest ranked teams, Russia and Spain, advanced to the European play-off. In August 2019, Russia withdrew from the play-off tournament and were replaced by Serbia.

The following is a list of results for the Greece national rugby league team since their first match in 2003, where they defeated New Caledonia 26–10. They have played 29 matches, winning 20 and losing nine. Their most recent result was an 82–6 win against Serbia.

The 2021 European Championship D was an international rugby league tournament. Originally scheduled to take place in October and November 2020 the championship was postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic following a meeting of the European Rugby League (ERL) in July 2020. Four teams competed in the tournament; Czechia, Malta, Netherlands and Turkey.

Albanian Rugby League (ARL) represents Albania in international rugby league tournaments, as well as organizes domestic competitions, and undertakes development projects. Rugby league is a new sport in Albania, which has been officially registered since 2017. The popularity of rugby league is struggling for attention in the national media. However, since the creation of the ARL national team and the introduction of Tirana Rugby Club in the Greek championship, coverage has increased with articles appearing in different rugby league official forums and newspapers.

The 2020 European Championship C was a planned international rugby league tournament that would have taken place in October and November 2020.
